I stared at my computer screen, unfocused. Dread, fear, and shame stifled my positive thoughts. The interview with Sienna brought publicity, all right. I wanted Optimized Life to succeed, especially for Ken’s sake. Ken, oh Ken. I closed my eyes to forget all of it, but it didn’t work. Ken, oh KenThe doorbell rang through the house. “It’s right here.” My ears pricked up. The lawyers. d**k Good’s lawyers. After giving myself a kick, I went downstairs only to find empty space where the four cardboard boxes containing all of Optimized Life’s documents used to be. I returned to my desk and hung my head. Reality hit me. Optimized Life was gone. No more weekly business meetings. No more classes on the weekend. No fear of being proven a thief by Ken. Warm sun beams filtered through the window.
