He shuddered, blood instantly rushing to his head. His head spun, his whole body frozen in place, unable to believe his ears.
"Miscarriage?"
"What else?" Owen shot back.
Owen was utterly baffled, his voice stern. "I was away on business yesterday. The nurse only told me when I came back this morning. She was brought to the hospital yesterday afternoon and diagnosed with a miscarriage. It was only a little over a month. She had just gotten pregnant. She was extremely weak. The doctor repeatedly stressed that she had to be hospitalized for observation.
