Chapter 2

Emma    "How could they have not been ready? They should have been more on guard. Especially with a newborn pup!", I say exasperated.          "You won't understand until you have a pup of your own.", he says simply.      I wonder if the story is true, what is the prince doing? Is he building a stronger pack?     "It's about time you started getting ready for school.", my dad says standing up.      I get up, walking back to my room to get ready. I shower and put on my clothes. I'm wearing a black floral top with a forest green cardigan and light wash jeans. I paired them with some black strappy heals. I add a little makeup because I had some extra time. I walk downstairs to the kitchen and grab a bagel and my keys. Walking out the door my mom tells me to be back before 5 o'clock.      I get to school in plenty of time. I wait in my car for Charlie, Matthew, and Austin. We always meet before school to compare answers from English. None of us like that class.      "Boo!", Charlie yells, hitting my window. She loves scaring people and pranking people. She's always getting into trouble and I'm always getting her out of it. She's also the daughter of my fathers Beta.      Austin and Matthew were standing behind her waiting for my reaction. As usual, there wasn't any. I don't scare easy.       "I never scare you. It isn't fair. My pranks work on everyone else but you. You always know whats going on. It's not fair!", she whined.      "I don't even know why you try, Charlie. You know they never work.", Austin said.      Austin and Matthew are the twins of my pack's third in command. The twins and Charlie are the only ones not afraid of me. They were the only ones who would be honest with me. They are my only friends in the whole pack.      "Whatever. Let's get to class. Don't want to be late.", I say.     I get out of my car and start walking inside with my friends. People make way for us in the hall. I don't know what we ever did to earn everybody's respect, but we have it.      We have to split up for first hour, but we have second hour together. Then third with Austin. Fourth  I had with Charlie. Then lunch, my favorite part of the day. The next few hours me and Matthew shared. Last hour was athletics. Charlie and I have softball, but Austin and Matthew have baseball.      As I was walking into first hour, history, I felt a pair of eyes on me, but I didn't see anybody.
