Chapter 5

487 Words
Emma-     I got a mindlink at the end of history to come to the office quickly once class was over. I walk in to see my father holding a case file. He motions for me to follow him. Once we get to the office he hands me the file. I look at the front and realize it's a student file. It's Max's file. His picture on the front doesn't really do him justice I think. Wait. Why am I thinking about how Max looks. Focus Emma.      "Tell me what you think.", my dad says      "I talked to him last hour a he seemed nice. Why does he move so much?"' I ask looking at my father.      "What is your opinion?", my father says completely ignoring my question.      "Look into his life, family, and history. I thought he was human, but he could just be good at hiding it.", I say looking at the file again. "He hasn't gone to another pack school, so maybe he really is human. But my gut says there is something about  him."     "Good. You' can go back to class now." my dad says.      I can't say I'm not happy to get to know more about  him. He just seems different. When I walk out of my dad office I see Charlie waiting for me.      "Have you seen the new guy? He's cute." Charlie asks me. She always thinks the new guys are cute but this time she's right.      "Yeah. He was seated next to me in History. I was kind of rude to him. I thought he was going to be like the rest of the humans, but he acted different. You know how they usually ask me on a date then ask for my name, Max asked my name and didn't ask me out. I cant tell whether I like it or am disappointed.      She pulls me to a stop suddenly. "You like him." she says excitedly.      "I can't like him. I've met him once." I say     "You will. I promise. I can tell these thinks from early on. Trust me.", she say all-knowingly.       "It's not going to matter in a week. He's most likely not a wolf so, when I do turn 18, he cant be my mate." I tell sadly     "Most likely?", she asks pointedly.      Oh crap. I didn't realize what I said until too late. I also realized the way I said it made it sound like I wanted Max to be my mate. What the heck was wrong with me? I'm about to respond when we reach the classroom. Math has always been my favorite subject.      As we walk in I realize there is someone in my seat. Then I recognize Max's blonde hair. He's talking to Austin and Matthew. I stand there and listen to their conversation for a minute. The twins look like they are stressing out Max so I walk over to save him.
