The Shaded Grove packhouse is tiny compared to the sprawling house built by my great-grandfather, but it’s much more modern. It’s made of steel with floor to ceiling windows. It’s monochromatic white throughout the entryway, which is two floors, with the upstairs balcony opened up to the foyer.
I’m surprised when Alpha Rowleston leads me upstairs. On the second floor, there’s an impressive steel spiral staircase, and I’m even more surprised when he leads me up that. Emerging onto the rooftop, I see a beautiful garden and in the back, where it would be just out of sight from the driveway below, a beautiful enclosure of glass. Alpha Rowleston immediately makes for that enclosure, and I follow. The structure is magnificent. It’s almost entirely glass, other than spiderweb thin steel support
