Tale of Arcillana

Chapter 30

Cam’s Point of View:

I tweak my hair when I feel my head aches. I opened my eyes and roam it inside the room where I am at. I am at the cottage we rented here in the Club House.

"Are you okay Cam?" I heard Viper's voice.

"My head hurts a lil bit." I said. She gave me water and I accepted it. I thanked her before drinking it.

"They are in the restaurant waiting for us." She said. I nodded before going into the bathroom and fixed myself. I also change my clothes into a white sando and black shorts.

I don't know if Viper really waited for me or it just she also woke up late. I have not able to ask her.

We are now currently walking all the way to the Club House’s restaurant. This place is very nice because it has everything you need. They had best services as well. The crews were friendly and accommodating.

“Good morning.” I greeted to my friends who are now in a table and I guess waiting for their orders.

There are only two vacant chairs. One is beside Alliah where Viper seated and one beside Nicolai. Since there are no other empty chairs, that is the only option that I have, to seat beside him.

I know I was drunk last night but I remembered everything. I am not the type of person who forgot everything when they feel better the next day.

“Have this later.” Nicolai said and gave me a medicine. It is a white small circle tablet. I think this is for a hang over.

I thanked Nicolai and turned my attention to the girls. I am already starving. I am about to stand to check what’s up with their order when I saw one of the crew walking towards us while pushing a food cart.

I mentally thanked God after the food has been served before eating. I am not used to it but everyone was eating peacefully and we were in deafening silence. No one dares to talk.

After having a breakfast, we went to our cottages to pack our things because we are already going home. It was just a weekend vacation. But next time, I will suggest to make it a week. Staying here in the Club House is amazing. There are a lot of beautiful views that you would really enjoy.

When I opened the door, I saw Nicolai standing in front of it already. He is wearing a Khaki short, maroon polo shirt and a ray ban sunglasses that makes him even more hot. I shook my head to push those admiration away. I should stop myself in here. I don’t want to dig deeper. I should not let this feeling grow.

Like what he promised to my family, Nicolai brought me home while others have their own cars. Thelonious and Viper brings Alliah home too.

“Are you okay?” Nicolai asked in the middle of our trip. I said yes and looked at the window.

“You seems not.” He just.

“I am just tired I guess.” I replied without even looking at him.

The trip went on silence before we could reach our house. I didn’t wait for him to open the door for me. He picked up my baggage and put it inside.

“Thank you. Take care on your way home.” I said before turning back and take a step. I heard him called my second name so I looked back.

He is about to open his mouth but ended up shaking his head. “Take a rest.” He said and bid goodbye.

After seeing his car on its way out of our place, I went to my room and threw myself to my bed.

I became unproductive because I just lay on my bed the whole day. Until tomorrow comes.

Monday, my second week here in the island and my second week as well as a student in University of Arcillana High School Department.

To begin with, I do not like it here. I do not like to leave my life in Manila. I do not like to leave my friend in Manila. Hannah, Agatha and Maxyne. God knows how much I miss those bitches. I miss to call them that. I miss to hangout with them. I miss to go to the mall with them. I miss to train with them.But there are instances in our life that we need to prioritize. And that is what I did. I prioritized first our grandparents who wishes to spent time with us. They are not getting any younger.

The island has been nice to me. I was impressed and amazed by the things I did not expected to see in here.

Like what I have said, there's a lot of islands who are already progressive because of the advancement of technology. There are clean water supply, there are power supply of electricity, there are buildings built and etcera but I could distinguish Arcillana different from all.

"Are you going already?" I asked my mother when I saw her holding her bag in her right hand and a cellphone in her left hand. She is going to the Capitol with dad. Lately, because of what happened, they barely stay at home and spend most of their time in the Capitol to fix the system and locate those people who dares to enter the island.

It's been how many days since Arcillana received an uninvited guests. And up until now, they was not able to capture one. The mole in the Capitol has been interrogated but he is firm in his decision. He won't spit any information even if it costs his life. Whoever behind this scene is powerful enough to invade the island or maybe one of the people who shows love and care to the place but not the people.

I still feel bad because of the confirmation that one of them is close to me. He is one of our trainers in the camp. But I feel relieved after confirming that Hannah's dad knows nothing about this happening.

"Yes. I already instructed the Jaime to assigned body guards for the twins. I have to go dear, bye. Take care of yourself." She said. Jaime is the head of the security team of our family. He's been working with my family for past twenty five years already.

Since we does not know what might happen, our parents and grandparents decided to give us body guards but I immediately disagreed.

I don't want someone to follow me around so I rejected. We have done another argument about it in front of Nicolai while having a dinner and fortunately, I won this time. Well, I must say, with the helped of Nicolai. He said to my family that he is going to look after me. My parents knew how hardheaded their daughter is sometimes so they already agreed in Nicolai's proposal.

Since the twins already have bodyguards, we used different cars. They are with their bodyguards while I am with our driver.

"I really thought I could still enjoy my career." My brother uttered out of nowhere. I tried not to laugh because I can see how stress he was. He also spent sleepless nights to help our family in the Capitol.

"I think this is your calling bro. You are bound to serve the island and its people. It is calling you." I seriously said. As much as I want to tease my brother, with the current situation we are facing right now, I can't. I am not that insensitive though.

"How about you? What are your plans?" He suddenly asked. I carefully think of what he said. What are my plans? Well, I don't know yet.

"I don't know actually but I want to go back to Manila after two years." I replied. The life I have here is commendable but I also have a life left in Manila.

"You sure? Is that your final decision? What if you find a reason to stay? Will you stay here in Arcillana?" He said that made me kept quiet. A reason to stay? I already have a reason that is why I agreed to stay here for two years. And that reason is my grandparents.

"Yes bro. I will return in Manila after two years. I got to go. Bye." I said and bumped my cheeks to his'.

I went out of the house while carrying my things. We have one week left to prepare for the up coming foundation day. And the school announces of full length practice of each organizations and preparations of the booth. They will only give us homework to be passed after the foundation day.

"You don't have to wait for me until afternoon. Just pick me up at five o'clock. You can roam around or you can go to your family first." I said to my driver. I know waiting quite boring so he could just go somewhere.

I confidently walked inside the campus. The eyes of the students are on me but I get used to it already. Maybe they are the one who can't get used to my presence.

"Caaaaaam!" I heard Mitch yelled my precious name. Geez this girl. She is always loud, really!

"Good morning." I said, greeting her. I bumped my cheeks on hers'.

"Let's go! I am excited. Have you read the announcement? We are going to pick today who are the representative in our class for the Beauty and Brain Contest." She said. She really are excited. Her face says so. She could not hide her emotions. She is very expressive.

"Do you want to be the contestant? I will nominate you later." I said while smiling. There will be a nomination for the contestants later. And there will be one representative per class.

"No no no. I am the head of the committee so I won't get involved in any decision of the class but Alliah, Viper and I agreed to nominate you." She said with full of excitement. What the hell? I am not into pageantry!

"No way! Don't you dare Mitch." I said using a warning tone but she just smiled and left me to enter the room.

We waited for our class adviser to enter the room before we could decide whom to represent for the pageant. This will determine through nomination and division of the house.

"The table is now open for the nomination." Our class adviser said. I glared at Mitch but this b***h just laughed and shrugged her shoulders.

"I nominate Margaux to be the representative." One of our classmate said. Her friend probably.

The whole classroom cheered for her. One of them nominate Aika, the class president. I would rather vote for her than the other one. She is prettier than her. She have the posture and I know she is intelligent. I thought we are going to vote one out of the two but Alliah raised her hand.

"I have the honor to nominate Miss Camelle Arabella Montidalgo to be our representative and the next QUEEN of Arcillana." She said emphasizing the word QUEEN. The whole room cheered after Alliah nominated me. Thelonious even stand, leading the students.

After nominating me, Viper closed the table for nomination therefore the class adviser took over the floor again.

"Okay. Seems like we have strong possible contestants. Are we going to bring home the crown?" She asked with full of excitement. The students said yes and cheered except the guy I would never expect to do such thing.

"If that is the case let's divide the house into three." She said and began to let the students choose who they want to represent our section for the upcoming Beauty and Brain Pageant.

We proceed to the division of the house. Since Mitch is not allowed to vote, she is the one who count for the number of votes for each nominee.

"Woah. We have a tie!" Our adviser said. I looked at the board to see who have a tie. It is me and Margaux. We are just one point ahead of Aika in terms of number of votes.

"Actually Miss, Kade Nicolai Buenaventura have not voted yet. He have not raised his hand." Mitch said.

I summed up the total number of votes counted under our names and compare to the number of students our class have. We are lacking two persons. One would be Mitch since she is not allowed to vote and one would be Nicolai.

"Who's your bet Mr. Buenaventura?" Our adviser asked. Everyone looked at him, waiting for his answer.

"Of course, he will vote for Margaux! They have been together since seventh grade right?" I heard one of Margaux's friend confidently said. I turned my head back in front and looked down on my fingers. I think I need to change my nail art. It's been a month since I That's just fine, I don't like pageants after all. I love fashion but not the runway.

"I will give my vote to Miss Montidalgo." I heard my friends cheered after hearing what Nicolai have said. I also raised my head to see how Mitch added another line of vote under my name.

"Seriously Kade?!! You will give your vote to a nobody rather than giving it to me?" I turned my head to Margaux when I heard her violent reaction.

"Shut it Margaux. Just accept the fact that you lost." Mitch commented.

"Shut up! I am not talking to you bitch." Margaux replied raising her tone on Hymitch.

Hytham gusto to get the attention of everybody especially Margaux. "Watch your mouth when you talk to my sister Dela Fuente." Hytham said using a warning tone.

"And don't use that tone when you talk to my cousin as well." One of my male classmate said. He is Aleander, Margaux's cousin that creates tension to the whole room.

"Calm down students." Our adviser butted in. She looked nervous. She should impose authority here inside since she is the class adviser.

"Shut up. We are not talking to you. That b***h does not deserve to be the representative of the class. She's a transferee and you should give importance to the native people of Arcillana." She reasoned out.

"Really or you are just that insecure?" Mitch rebutted.

"Why would I? She's just a Montidalgo. Without her name she is a nobody. She is nothing compare to me!" Margaux said. That's it. I stand up and faced her ugly face.

"Nothing? You really dare to compare me to you? Can you hear yourself? Are you kidding? Woah that was not a good joke though." I said while looking at her. "I was able to knocked you out without even exerting too much effort yet you are comparing me to yourself. Shame on you. And to tell you this. I am Camelle Arabella Montidalgo and I am incomparable." I added that makes her even more angry. She is about to speak when Nicolai stopped him.

"Stop it already." He intervened. "I chose Arabella because she is qualified to be the representative. You are all aware that she have the face, the body, and the confidence. I am mentoring her for how many days already and I could attest that she is an intelligent person. Now, if you really want to bring the crown for our section, Arabella is the best representative we have. After all, she is a total package." Nicolai said that makes the whole room shut up. After that, he left the classroom.

I watched how Nicolai slowly disappeared on my sight.
