Chapter 35

Cam’s Point of View: After lunch, I rushed myself to the Glee Club Room to avoid the stares of every students in the cafeteria and able not to hear gossips circulating the area. I have heard enough of negative comments already and I won’t accept it anymore. I am just trying to behave the best as I can because I am protecting the image of the Montidalgos. But if it happens that I have no name to protect, I should have taught them a lesson. I am rich enough to be called a gold digger. I am decent enough to be called a slut. And I am well known enough to be called a fame w***e. I want to curse Nicolai for doing that! I can't read him. He is doing things he wanted to without even anticipating what will happen next. Is he that careless? For sure Margaux would come to me again. There are already students inside and they are practicing our group dance. "Hi Cam, good afternoon." One of my fellow greeted me. I smiled at her and greeted her as well. I already knew some of them while I am still knowing others. I am not really good at remembering names and certain people because back then, I just have Hannah, Agatha and Maxyne. This place is different and I need to blend in that is why I am trying my best to behave this way. "Did you finish the choreography?" I asked. They are actually making choreography because we have a lot of performances from day one up to the last day. "Not yet. We are still lacking but we will finish this eventually." Jazzlene said. I nodded as a response. "Okay. I'll just get change." I said and waved at them while leaving and walking towards the locker room. I can't dance wearing my fitted dress outfit so I have to change it into a comfortable piece of clothing. I wore a black leggings and black sports bra. Having this, I can move freely. I usually use this kind out outfit whenever I practice a choreography. Glee club members were so talented. The day after my audition, I have met them all and able to observe them while raising their ideas to what we are going to do on the foundation day. Since we have booths, we are going to do a mini concert. We will be having our mini concert at the oval. We can’t use the covered gym since it will be utilized for overall program and it will be set up for the pageant night afterwards. Boys helped each other to built a stage in the middle. We also seek help from people outside the campus to make our stage concrete and firm. There are already lights on our area and we already sent a letter to the faculty who are in charge of the sound system. Probably that will be the last thing we are going to set up. On the daylight, we are free to mingle with our schoolmates and have an experience in other booths since we can’t just dance under the heat of the sun. “Is there any volunteer for solo or duet performance?” Hytham asked. He is already here with other members. He’s been busy preparing everything because he is the president of this club. He have the list of the performances we will going to perform for the mini concert. I already have four group performances and one vocal solo. “How many numbers do we need?” Asked by one of the members. I don’t remember his name but I am certain that he is a grade nine student. “We still need five.” Hytham said. “I will be one of the volunteers so we needed four,” he added. Hytham is a good singer. I have heard him sang already and I can say he is really good. The way he conveyed the message of the song, the way he communicated to his audience through his eyes and emotions. He is an effective storyteller by means of singing. “Maybe Cam can. She did great during her audition. Maybe she can have another solo with the same thing she did that day.” Eljay said and everyone agreed on the suggestion. I was about to speak to say yes but Hytham interrupted. “She is going to represent our class in the pageants. She can’t be that exhausted when the pageant comes.” He said that makes everyone formed their lips in an “o” shaped. “Woah. I don’t think so we still have a chance for the crown.” One of the members commented but in a whisper to her side. “Yes. Look at her. The beauty and the body were perfect. And I think she’s also an intelligent person just like her parents and grandparents. She’s a Montidalgo after all.” One agreed. I didn’t mind their side comments rather replied on what Hytham said. “It’s okay. I can manage. I can still rest in the morning before the pageant night comes.” I said. Hytham asked me if I am sure, multiple times and I answered him yes. I know he is just concerned but I know my capabilities. And I also know my limitations. I can still perform and make the next day a rest day. Hytham added my solo performance to the list. Some of them also volunteered to perform. When everything was settled, we came together to the center and practice the finale where everyone should perform. The finale is about five minutes. Our performance today is not yet well furnished but we are hoping that by Friday, we already have the mastery of every steps. It was not just a simple dance performance but we brainstormed for the concept of this. After the finale we decided to to have a water break first before returning to practice. We separated and formed our groups to a group practice. Everyone is already sweating and some are gasping for air. There is actually a technique so you won’t feel a shortness of breathing. When you dance especially the beat of the music requires so much energy, you should open your mouth a lil big so an air can infiltrate. It makes you maintain your energy without having the feeling of shortness of breathing. “Good job everyone. I have seen your hard work and I am proud to say that I saw an enjoyment that is evident to everyone’s faces. That is one of the most important thing we should do, to enjoy the performances we perform.” Hytham said. Before dismissing us, he reminded us of what are the things we are going to do. “Let’s call it a day. Good bye.” He said and we all bid goodbyes.
