Chapter 15

Cam’s Point of View:

"Wake up. Were here." I slowly opened my eyes when I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder.

The smiling face of my little sister welcomed to my sight. I really love her dimples, it adds innocence and cuteness to her face. I scanned the place and we are inside the car.

Oh, I fell asleep earlier.

"You fell asleep. We did not wake you up earlier because it seems you are tired and really sleepy." She explained.

"Thanks." I said.

"You are always welcome. We are home already." She said and turned her back on me and get out of the car so did I.

When we entered the house, the maids greeted us and volunteered to carry our things.

"Are they home?" I asked the maid to carried my bag.

"Not yet Young Lady." She said. I nodded as a response.

"Please prepare a food for us. We will have our snack in the gazebo. I want pasta and orange juice. Ask the twins of what they want to eat. I will just get change." I said and leave them. I headed myself to the elevator.

My first day of school is amazing. Like the first time I saw the island, I was also mesmerized by the beauty of University of Arcillana. I have not tour the whole campus yet but my new friends, they promised to tour me during our vacant time. And yes, I made friends with them. They are amazing and cool bunch of students. They are also famous and everyone looked them up.

They looked happy and excited after hearing that I am a Montidalgo. I always bring or sometimes brag my family name that's because I could not help it. Our family is really known by people who knows that we have a good heart. And Montidalgo have significance in the society especially here in Arcillana that our grandparents are part of the governing body of the island.

I smiled after reminiscing how warm they welcomed me earlier. I laughed when I tried to recall how did I kicked the future or Nicolai. I am expecting that one of these days, he will get his revenge, I could see it in his eyes earlier. But I creased my eyebrows when I remember that girl Margaux. I did not like the way she darted her eyes on me. And the courage she have to call someone babe and give him a kiss in front of many people, she is really something. She have the face but she ain't gorgeous. Her beauty is ordinary and when you stare her long, you will get sick of her easily.

When the elevator reached the third floor and the door opened, I immediately get out of it and headed straight to my room.

I placed my clothes on the laundry basket when I get changed. Of course, like what I always do even before, I took a quick shower first to wash the bacteria away that clung to my body. I blower my hair before getting change. I just wore a red short and a white spaghetti strap loose sando.

After fixing myself, I went down to the garden to have our snack. The twins are already there. And they are busy with their own cellphones.

"How's your school?" I asked them before pulling one of the chairs opposite to the twins.

I love the ambiance that this place gives in. It has a lot of not so big trees and other plants that adds on giving fresh air.

"We are good. We are the subject of every conversation they have earlier." Dark replied while his eyes are on the screen of his cellphone.

"That is because we are our grandparents grandchildren, D. Some of them who came from upper classes even asked us to be their friends because we are Elites." My little sister said.

I looked at her when I heard her said that.

"Always remember what I have told you two. It is good to be friendly and have many friends but it is not good to have friends that will take advantage of you. I do not like people who are just going to use you two. It is better to have few friends but those who are real. Those friends who truly cares for you." I said.

Number of people that surrounds me is not important for me. What I care about is how they treat you whether you are with them or not. For me, it will always be quality over quantity. I am not a keeper of unauthentic. And that is what I am always reminding my siblings. I do not want them to be victims of users, people who only treats you good because they want something from you. That is why I always told them to not give easily their trust to someone they just know. And they should take time to know the person first most especially it's background and it's intention.

The maids delivered what we wanted for snack. While having it, the two shared what happened in their first day of school aside from being the center of attraction and became the subject of every conversation.

We get in before it gets dark. I would love to have our snack again tomorrow at the gazebo. The vibes it gives is different. It is very relaxing and it feels so good.

"Good evening grandma," I greeted my grandmother as well as my grandfather. "Good evening grandpa."

They came home with my brother while our parents are not yet here. They said they are not going to have their dinner with us because they are still at the Capitol. There are important matters they need to settle and accomplish. Maybe they are going to spend the night there or they will go home at dawn. It depends if they could fix it on time.

Our grandparents takes a rest first before they call for a dinner. They looked stress tonight. As far as I want to ask, I stopped myself. I think they need some time not just to rest but to free their thoughts. Even if I they don't they tell me, I know that something not good is going on. My brother is also quiet. That is unusual of him. He would always start a conversation among us.

"How's your school?" Our grandfather asked. It lighted up the atmosphere.

"We are good there grandpa. There's a lot of kids that want us to be their friends." My little said with excitement and happiness. "The campus is also very huge and very nice." She added before having her spoon in her mouth.

"There's a lot of high and advance technologies in the campus so it is good. It would be probably boring if there's none." My little brother commented. He is fond of different technologies most especially gadgets. He oftentimes disassembling gadgets he have, check and study the parts of it.

“Yes yes. I am more than just excited to go to school tomorrow.” My little sister giggled. Our grandparents smiled after hearing what the twins have said and after seeing the smiley face of my little sister. It is indeed evident in her eyes the excitement and happiness she feels.

“How about you Cam? How is your first day? Have you made friends?” Our grandfather asked before having a bite of steak. He should stop eating steak and other meats. If he wants to, he should eat occasionally. He is old already and I think it is really not good for his health to eat more meats. He should eat more vegetables and fruits.

“She is probably a loner, grandpa. I am sure that she pushes them away and will only look for the qualities her friends left in Manila has to consider one as her friend.” My brother commented. I thought he will zip his mouth for the rest of the time.

“You got it wrong bro.” I replied and gave him a winked. “Finally, you got it wrong.” I laughed. “Actually I am friends with the Samaniego, Costillana, Alejandro and Buenaventura. The one that mom introduced to me during the party.” I continued. That got their attention.

“Woah. I didn’t expect that you are friendly sis. I mean, you have friends but just four.” He said while shrugging his shoulders.

“I don’t need much of it bro. I need few but are not fake. I need few but are genuine.” I rebutted.

“That is good that you get along with them hija. They are nice kids and are the future of Arcillana as well.” Our grandfather said. I know they want to continue the friendship of these five powerful families in the island. And I would not disappoint them after all, I enjoy being with them even for just hours.

I am looking forward to know them well. I think I would not survive in this place if I have no one to consider as friends. The one that I could lean on when I needed to.

I know for sure they have different personalities and I witnessed it during the party as well as today. But the differences among them, among us could be one of the reasons why they have a strong friendship also. For me, if you embrace each other’s differences and learn from them, you will find a reason to value and appreciate them more than what you expected it to be.

After the dinner is over, we went straight to the third floor. Our grandparents’ room is located in the second floor.

I am walking to the long hallway of the house with my brother. The twins already run to their room.

“I have notice something bro, on you and our grandparents. Is there something wrong? You never radiates the energy you gave us earlier, unless there is indeed something wrong. And why does our parents have to stay there overnight?” I asked my brother.

Our parents are busy with the business stuff but I never heard them spent their night on their workplace.

“Nothing. Something just messed up.” He replied.

“Messed up? What do you mean by that?” I asked again.

“It is better if you know nothing about it Cam.” He said and bid goodbye when I reach the front of my door.

I am smelling something fishy.
