Chapter 22

Cam’s Point Of View:

I am still shocked of what I am seeing right now. They are having one on one combat! I am not shocked of seeing a student executing this because way back in Manila, my friends and I were actually having a training but I am shocked because of the fact that this is part of the curriculum. There are schools that really offers this kind of classes, trainings but are private.

I blinked when I saw how Viper easily dodged the attack of Alliah. They chose to pair each other.

I can see their serious faces. Obviously, no one wants to be hit so they are doing their best to dodge every attack. Viper extended her arm and exerted force in her attack towards Alliah while her head was still in a bow down position. But Alliah has a sharp senses. She immediately crossed her arms upwards to shield herself while welcoming Vipers arm. Her left foot was in a step forward and her knees were slightly bent to carry her weight.

“Time is up! Good job girls! You were able to execute your defenses properly.” Our instructor commented and called the next pair to perform.

While being in match, they wear a full gear to protect themselves in any serious injury.

After half of the number of girls were done, the category were changed into male. We will get back to the girls later he said.

At first, the boys performing the combat in a chill mood and after a couple of seconds, they became aggressive. Maybe that was just a warm up. Hytham is against our classmate name Chester. I mentally laughed because his name is close to cheater and I have heard a news that he really is a cheater. His name suits him well. He is a good looking man with a well built body. His eyes are blue and quite mesmerizing. I am sure that there’s a lot of girls who fall for him.

Chester’s body built were matched to Hytham’s. They were also the same in height.

Hytham dodged an attack from Chester by simply sliding left when Chester aimed a punch in his face. He is probably thinking “not my handsome face bro!” I thought that was it but he is fast! Hytham turned and extended his right arm while his hand was firm. He targeted Chester’s neck and he succeeded. There is a turn of table. Hytham is the one who are attacking his opponent and he is leading the match right now.

While watching them, I am thinking why would they let students do this kind of thing?

Isn’t it leads to violence and superiority of those who have the capability to fight? And those they think they are weak are subject to bullying? Worst, a physical assault!

This institution really surprises me every single time.

“Mr. Buenaventura, can you assist Miss Montidalgo to learn the basic first?” Our instructor asked. Nicolai immediately agreed.

Nicolai asked me if we can just have it at the side since in the middle of the training room is a mat where players are having their combat battle.

“Why do they offer you this kind of subject?” I asked Nicolai, the heir of the Buenaventura and the student council president. Aside from the school’s faculty and staff he is the most reliable person I could ask for something to be clarified.

“Because it is neccessary.” He replied. He is always giving me hanging answers or a dead end.

“Why is it neccessary?” I followed up.

Nicolai lazily looked at me.

“I told you to read the book of Arcillana.” He reminded. I am aware of the book but I does not have a chance to look for it in the library.

“You can just tell it to me right now like duh.” I exclaimed but he just shook his head. My eyes were literally in bulged when I saw his fist coming straight to my face so I rushed myself to bend my body left and pushed his arm to the side.

“Yaaaaaaaaah! Are you insane?!!!!” I yelled at him.

I have not realized what I did and just smiled awkwardly when they all looked at our direction. The two who are on the mat even stopped what they are doing and looked at us.

“Is there any problem Miss Montidalgo, Mister Buenaventura?” Our instructor worriedly asked. I immediately shook my head and said “there is none sir.”

I glared at Nicolai who are now chuckling. This guy is really out of his mind. What if I was not able to dodge it? He will really pay if my gorgeous face was ruined!

“You have a good defense huh. You are alert and your senses are good.” He commented while smiling and turned around. The nerve of this guy!

His back was facing me. He's busy fixing the gear we are going to use. I smiled when a brilliant idea of revenge hit me. I came closer to Nicolai and exerted force to hit his knee.

"Shit." He cursed and held his knee where I hit him. He sat on the floor and stretched his knee. Nicolai glared at me but I just gave him a "serves you right look" and stick my tongue out.

I walked towards where the gears are and put it myself. While Nicolai, he's already behind me. I was not able to move because I can feel his masculinity at my back. My heart began to beat fast again!

"You hit me twice already." My eyes widen a bit when I feel his breathing on my right ear. "You have to pay me for it someday." He said that makes me turned to him but that was a wrong move, a big mistake!

My eyes even gets wider when our faces where just an inch away! I think I need to go to the hospital after class because my heart is beating fast than its normal beat!

I pushed Nicolai in his chest away but it feels I was electrified. I looked away and shook my head to clear my thoughts. This is awkward.

I inhaled and exhaled how many times to calm myself and to push away the awkwardness. This is the first I felt an awkward feeling towards someone. I am always being myself, a person with full of confidence to do whatever she wants to do.

Nicolai also wear his gear and began to teach me the basic. I am executing every move properly and I can see amazement in his eyes.

"This is not new to you. Am I right?" He said when he calls for a break. He sat on the floor, so am I opposite his direction. “I know you are intelligent, a fast learner but this thing is different. This kind of thing needs a drill, a training for you to master it.” He said while having an eye contact with me.

"I trained every weekends. I have this friend back in Manila. His father is a high ranked police official and they own a training camp. We've been training for two years already." I said honestly. Hannah has been kidn*pped once. Aside from the bodyguards in distance that his father hired for her, it is his father’s decision also to teach her that so she could at least defend herself if something like that happen again.

We found it out when we visited her. Since we are amazed of what they are doing in the camp, we talked to Hannah and her father to let us train also. But before that, he talked to our parents first. And that training became one of bonding. It built the trust of one another and it made our friendship stronger.

“Then I don’t need to further teach you. Let’s have a battle later.” He said and chuckled.

“No way. You will just get your revenge if I am not mistaken.” I said and rolled my eyes over him. Before he could open up his mouth to utter a word, the instructor called for our attention.

“Everyone showed an impressive execution. Let us have a break first.” He said and everyone thanked our instructor. After returning back the gears. I saw how Mitch rushed herself towards me. At her back, Alliah and Viper are following her.

She pulled my arm with full of excitement. I don’t know what is up with her. I throws a questioning look at the two other girls but they just shrugged their shoulders.

We are heading to the cafeteria right now, just the four of us. The three boys will just follow.

“Girl, you have to tell us something. Right girls?” She asked the two. Alliah and Viper both agreed by nodding their heads.

I am thinking of what she is trying to say. Is it about the uninvited guests? Does their parents does not tell them about it? Am I and Nicolai knows the situation if the island right now?

“Come on Cam, spit it out.” Alliah said.

I am still confused because I don’t know what they are referring to. If this is because of the uninvited guests, they should not have this excitement in their faces. I think this is not about the issue.

“Some of the students saw how Nicolai opened the door for you just this morning, Cam. So what’s with it? Are you not really going to tell us what is your status?” Mitch said that makes me shocked.

“Don’t you ever deny it Cam. There’s a photo of you together circulating in SoLife.” Alliah said.

“And have you seen the face of Margaux? She is ranging, girl.” Mitch added and laughed.

The four of us ordered our snack and get back on our table.

“Hey I am not going to deny it. It was just because something happened.” I said that makes them even more curious.

I shared what happened last night and they were shocked to hear that. They don’t have any idea about it but they have noticed that their parents became even more busy this past few days.

“I really think that it is because of the new project of the council.” Viper commented.

“Have they caught those people?” Alliah asked. Worried is evident in their faces. Who would not be? This island was concealed and before an invited guests could enter, they should have permitted by the council.

If there are people who entered the island without the knowledge of the council, then there are people outside the island who know the existence of Arcillana. They might be after Arcillana’s abundance.

“This is very alarming. They should inform everyone about it.” Mitch suggested. But Viper disagree, so am I.

“It will cause panic to the citizen.” Viper said.

“As much as they can, they are settling it privately.” I said. That’s what Nicolai’s father said. They cannot just simply announced it. It might trigger those people to do something bad.

We exchanged more ideas about it. We identified possible things might happen if they can’t catch those people immediately. They sy the last thing that the island experienced something like this was when they are still a kid. The island shut down for almost a week to ensure the safety of every citizen and military were mobilized.

I remembered what my grandfather said before. Maybe that is what he was referring to.

“But wait, did Kade really slept in your house?” Mitch asked while wearing this mischievous smile. I know this kind of smile. She is like my brother, she loves to tease me as well.

“Yes but that was unplanned. Like what I have said, when we got there, his parents are at our house. They had their dinner there before traveling back to the Capitol with my parents. It happened that there’s no one in their house and it is best if he stay for his safety as well.” I explained.

“But do you know that you are the very first girl whom he let ride with him using that car?” Alliah said that catches my attention. So, he have other girls whom he let ride with him but in other cars? What a jerk indeed.

“Is that car precious to him?” I asked.

“Yes, it is his grandfather’s gift before he passed away that is why he seldom use that car and he doesn’t let anyone ride with it.” Viper said that made me keep quiet.

After a couple of seconds, the boys came in. They ordered their snack and returned to the table. We, the girls are already finish with our snack. We just waited for them so we can get back to the training room together.

Boys are indeed different from girls. They move fast and they eat fast. Or should I say, they are just hungry? They finish their foods just for a while.

“Let’s go?” Thelonious suggested and we agreed.

“Do you know what happened already?” Hytham asked the other girls. He is referring to the issue we just have discussed.

“Yes. Cam told us already.” Mitch replied to his twin brother and his brother just nodded at her.

After that no one speaks about it already. We can not afford to let other students here about that. Nicolai and I promised to our parents not to disclosed this information yet. We only told our friends because they deserved to know.

“Who will be our next pair?” Our instructor said. We all looked at Margaux who raised her right hand.

“I want to pair our new classmate Sir. I want to battle with her.” Margaux said while wearing her b***h smile. Alliah, Mitch, Viper, Thelonious and Hytham looked at me with a worried face.

“But Mr. Buenaventura just teaches her the basic Miss Dela Fuente.” Our instructor said.

“It is okay sir. My student is a fast learner.” Nicolai confidently said while messing my hair a lil bit.
