“How was your day?” Shelly asked immediately I fell on the couch. “Terrible”, I groaned, “and thanks for covering up for me. I would have been stuck in detention”. “It wasn’t that much of a deal”, she shrugged. “That reminds me, why are you home early?” I asked. “Someone at the office down with this bird flu that’s been going around”, she answered, “so we all had to leave”. The ding of the oven called her to the kitchen. She brought a bowl with her filled with brownies and said, “I figured that you might need this”. “Thanks” I breathed before stuffing my face.
