Before Ethan could open his mouth to argue, the police arrived. Panic flashed across his face, and the mask of unshakable calm he had worn for so long finally cracked. "Officers, I can explain," Ethan said quickly. "This is not what it looks like. I need to see Sienna. She'll forgive me." When I opened my eyes in the hospital room, Ethan was sitting beside my bed with red-rimmed eyes. He reached for my hand, but I moved it away without looking at him.
