"Could you wait?" Chloe asked the taxi driver as she climbed from his cab. "I just want to check on some things. Then I'd like to go to a car rental company." She hurried to the front door. Fumbling with the keys, she entered the foyer and stood still. The house felt cold. Chloe rubbed her hands together, checked the thermostat, then ran up the stairs to gather what she needed. I can't sleep here, she thought, hating herself for her own cowardice. Not until the garage was completely repaired.
