Chapter 4: Sanctuary

The walk back to the pack compound gave Luna time to process everything that had changed in the last hour. River kept close to her left side, occasionally brushing his hand against hers. Ash moved ahead, alerting the pack of their approach, while Kade brought up the rear, his presence solid and reassuring.
Silver Falls Pack's headquarters emerged from the forest like something out of a fairy tale. Ancient stone buildings blended seamlessly with modern additions, all centered around a courtyard where the sound of the falls created a constant symphony.
"Welcome home," River murmured, squeezing her hand.
Pack members emerged from various buildings, their curious gazes fixed on Luna. She felt their power assessments, saw the moment they recognized her hybrid nature. But instead of fear or disgust, she sensed only acceptance.
"They know?" she whispered.
"Of course they know," Ash said, rejoining them. "You're their Luna – their Alpha female. They've been waiting for you as long as we have."
A tall woman with silver-streaked hair approached, her stance respectful but warm. "I'm Sarah, the pack healer. We've prepared your quarters in the Alpha wing."
Luna's cheeks heated. "I haven't agreed to—"
"Yes, you have," Kade rumbled behind her. "The moment you fought beside us, the moment you claimed us before the Hunters. The mate bond is complete on your side now, just as it's been complete on ours for months."
He was right. She could feel it – three distinct threads of power connecting her heart to theirs, growing stronger with each passing moment.
Sarah smiled knowingly. "Let's get you settled in. Then we can discuss what the Council's next move might be."
As they entered the main building, Luna realized she had countless questions about how this would work – being mated to three Alphas, learning to lead a pack, defending against the Council. But for now, surrounded by her mates' strength and their pack's acceptance, she felt something she hadn't experienced in years.
She felt at peace.
