Chapter 7: Learning to Lead

391 Words
Luna never expected pack leadership to involve quite so much paperwork. "How do you handle all this?" she asked, staring at the mountain of documents on the massive desk in their shared office. River chuckled from his position on the leather couch, where he was reviewing territory agreements. "Usually we divide and conquer. Ash handles diplomacy and finances, I manage pack relations and training, and Kade deals with security and enforcement." "And what's my role supposed to be?" Luna traced her fingers over a petition from a neighboring pack seeking alliance. "Whatever you want it to be," Ash said, entering with fresh coffee. His ice-blue eyes softened as he handed her a cup. "You bring unique perspectives from all your bloodlines. The pack already looks to you for guidance." It was true. In the week since her claiming, she'd found herself mediating disputes with fairy wisdom, organizing pack events with witch efficiency, and training younger members to harness their inner strength. Her hybrid nature, once a source of shame, now served the pack in ways she'd never imagined. Kade appeared in the doorway, his massive frame filling it completely. "Speaking of training, the younger pack members are asking for another demonstration of hybrid combat techniques." Luna grinned. Teaching came naturally to her, especially when it involved showing off for her mates. "Well, we can't disappoint them, can we?" The training field filled quickly with spectators as Luna squared off against all three of her Alphas. These sessions had become popular entertainment for the pack, watching their Luna hold her own against three powerful warriors. "No holding back," she called out, letting her hybrid nature surface. River's answering smile was wicked. "Wouldn't dream of it, little mate." What followed was a dance of power and skill that left the younger pack members wide-eyed with awe. Luna's fairy magic let her dodge Ash's ice shards, her vampire speed matched Kade's raw power, and her witch abilities kept River's runes at bay. By the time they finished, all four of them were breathing hard and grinning like fools. "That's our girl," River said proudly to the cheering crowd. Luna felt her heart swell. This was leadership – not just papers and policies, but showing their pack how to embrace every aspect of themselves. She was finally becoming the Luna they needed her to be.
