The full moon hung heavy over Silver Falls, its light painting silver patterns through the master suite's windows. Luna lay curled between her mates, their combined warmth keeping the mountain chill at bay.
"Tell us about your childhood," River murmured, tracing patterns on her skin. "Before the Council found you."
Luna tensed briefly, but Kade's rumbling purr and Ash's gentle touch helped her relax.
"I was five when my powers first manifested," she began softly. "My mother was a powerful witch who fell in love with a lycan. She never knew he was already mated to a fairy, or that he'd been turned by a vampire."
"The perfect storm of supernatural genetics," Ash observed, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
"The Council had been watching, waiting. They took me on my sixth birthday." Luna's voice caught. "I never saw my parents again."
Kade's growl vibrated through the bed. "We'll find out what happened to them."
"The breeding program..." Luna continued, drawing strength from their touch. "They tried so hard to replicate what happened with me. Hundreds of attempts, all failures. I was their miracle and their curse."
River's arms tightened around her. "You were never their anything. You were always meant to be ours."
"When did you first feel the mate bond?" she asked, curious.
"The moment you crossed into our territory," Ash said. "Your power called to us like a siren song."
Kade nuzzled her neck. "We knew you needed time. Needed to trust again."
"And now?" Luna turned to face them, her heart full of love for these three magnificent creatures who had become her world.
River's smile was tender. "Now you're where you belong. Our mate, our Luna, our miracle."
Under the full moon's light, they loved her again, gentle and fierce by turns, until the past's shadows faded and only their bond remained.
Some secrets were meant to be shared in darkness, so the light could heal them come dawn.
