Astrid's POV I paced back and forth in my room, rubbing my eyes as my mind buzzed with thoughts, all geared toward how foolishly I had acted. Why am I so stupid? I shouldn't have run off like a criminal. Now it looks like I was eavesdropping. "Astrid," my subconscious mocked, you were indeed eavesdropping. "Shut up," I exclaimed, then facepalmed. Great, I was now talking to myself. I think I need to get checked up. The rumbling of my stomach occurred almost simultaneously with the roar of thunder from outside. I walked to the balcony, facing the vast forest in Damien’s backyard. His property seemed to stretch on for miles, even having a small lake within it.
