Mesmerizing

Adrian POV I loved watching her as she took in her surroundings. Everything was new to her. Every time I had shown her something she had never seen before she had looked around in awe, like a child in a toy store. I wanted more. I wanted to show her the world. To show her that there were good things out there. I knew after our first walk that I wanted to take her to the falls. It was my favorite place, and I couldn’t wait to share it with her. I packed a lunch and some blankets. I wanted to make sure that today was perfect. I needed her to see what she meant to me. I had been nervous as we approached the lake, what if she didn’t like it? Or didn’t find it as impressive as I did? What if she thought it was lame? But seeing her eyes light up and the smile on her face looking down into the water, I knew I had made the right choice. But there was more to the surprise. I wanted to show her my secret place. Where I went to think and to be alone. I had never shown it to anyone else before, but I had known when I saw her that I wanted to share every bit of my life with her, and that included the cavern behind the falls. I took her hand and led her forward. Desperately hoping that she would come to understand the significance of this place, and that it would be as special to her as it was to me. And it was worth it. I had never seen her so mesmerized. I couldn’t stop staring at her. The light bouncing off of her face as she looked around in wonder. The way her hair fell from behind her ears and into her face. The absentminded smile on her lips. The woman before me was perfect. This moment was perfect. She was so beautiful. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. She was everything I could ever want. I took a moment to thank the Goddess in my mind for blessing me with such a beautiful creature. “What are you looking at?” She had caught me staring. “You” I smiled down at her. She blushed and looked away. I reached out cupping her cheek and turned her face back to mine. “You’re beautiful Katrina.” Her already flushed cheeks turned an even darker shade of red as she turned away flustered. She was so shy, and I found it incredibly endearing. I set out our picnic basket and we sat down for our meal. She looked at me expectantly, and I laughed knowing she was waiting for a story about this place, and so I started in.
