" You've got good painting skills kid " a man close to him complemented
" Thank you sir " Robert smiled and looked up, he saw the person had a striking resemblance to that of his father.
" Guess you got that skill from me huh? You should be lucky your dad gave you something nice" he frowned.
" Get away from him" his mother shouted " leave my son alone you monster"
Robert was too scared to move, he was stationed in one place , he was traumatized and couldn't even move or respond, he just watched the drama that unfolded before him. His mother came so close to his dad and used the bottle on his head.
" You're not worthy to be a father" she said and grabbed the younger Robert and made for the door. On her way out, her husband staggered, got up and pushed her , she fell hard and hit her head against the table.
" MOM!!!" Robert screamed and woke up. He knew it was a dream but he was tearing up. He screamed so hard that the people in the coffee shop had to turn to look at him. He had taken a nap in the corner , he thought he had gone home.
" Robert, you okay??" His boss approached him after hearing him scream
" Yes sir, I'm fine"
" Your shift ended hours ago" his boss reminded " you can go home if you want to" his boss gave him a light smile and patted his shoulders
Robert stood up to take his leave when he saw his sketch pad lying gracefully on the chair. He was surprised for a moment, was it a dream or not? Without any hindrance, he started crying again. This time the tears flowed freely. He didn't know why he was having these dreams of late but one thing was for sure, he missed his mom. He lost both parents on the same day at such a young age. Of course, he was bound to feel this way, he wasn't immune to pain so he quietly sat there until he was calm enough to go home.
Robert sat there for an hour, he stared outside the window and watched the cars drive by. West London has never been so peaceful, there was no group of of friends shouting and walking by, no loud music blaring from any speaker, no traffic jam or congestion, it was too calm and perfect to be true.
Robert finally got up and prepared for his second job , he worked as a delivery guy for a chicken restaurant. It was five minutes past eight and time to head to his other job. His boss there was a lady and she wasn't too friendly
