In a moment of weakness, I forgot one of the most important teachings I was given: the frozen forest muddles our senses. I had momentarily forgotten that scents, sounds and even our sight couldn’t be trusted in a place like this. Time stops, and for a few seconds— or maybe it was a few minutes, I couldn’t tell— I’m too enraged and surprised to move or think.
