There were six more flags that fell for us, but as time went on in the frozen forest, the cold only seemed to increase and our lack of nourishment went with it.
“Alex, you must eat.” Lev passes me another frozen icy bark. “I can try and find something else to—“
I take the bark and chew, ignoring the shattering of ice in my mouth. “There’s nothing else. Everything is frozen. Nothing is growing.”
The night was coming quickly and the wind only blew harder and harsher. Both Lev and I were red faced, skin broken and senses even worse than it could already be. Sleeping longer and resting more didn’t help anymore. Things were getting intolerable.
