"Alice, can you set up a meeting with Polly sometime tomorrow?" I walked out of my office, I would usually just message her, but I would use any excuse to see her face again. Once I made it to her desk, I knew right away something wasn't right. "Alice?" I called her name again. "Yeah, I heard you I'm right on it" She replied shakily, I was concerned, but I knew right now I had to wait for her to open to me. I went back to my office and tried to come up with any reason she would look so shaken. I felt fear creep up is she regretting last night.
Alice
'This is a disaster' I thought to myself, I couldn't tear my eyes from the harsh words flooding my screen. I took a deep breath and closed each chat window not sure how to reply to the accusations. It is true that I was out with my boss; however, that shouldn't classify me like a w***e or anything else for that matter.
I sighed frustrated with my bad luck, the one night I give in to temptation, and I have to deal with this. I continued on my day as planned, and tried to ignore the sneers I was getting; instead, I held my head high. "Alice, over here" I heard Jessica from her office, she was a small Asian woman who was one of the oldest and toughest agents at the business. People would let her 4'8 stature and neat boy cut hair fool them into thinking she was soft, but she was the strongest woman I've ever known. She ushered me into her office and close the door behind me. "How you feeling doll?" She asked, and I felt the heavy weight of today's events start to crumble, funny how far a little kindness could go. "I'm still standing" was all I could reply with. "Oh darling doesn't let the vultures get you down, they're just jealous." She gestures for me to take a seat. I loved the vintage decor in her office it was like walking into a time capsule to the Renaissance in England, even her carpet was made from over 100 years ago and kept in such pristine condition. The walls were draped in various knick-knacks and art from that period, and it all flowed nicely. I felt a bit nervous to sit on her couch feeling like I would lower its value but did anyway. "I just can't believe everyone found out so quickly," I said, "Sweetie you are in a building with agents might as well be in a tank with sharks" she replied sitting at her desk. "True, I just wished I had a little more time to enjoy him. Its only a matter of time before he catches wind of this and ends it" I sighed. "Not if you get in front of this. Don't let them steal your joy. Keep it under wraps and kill it before it can bite at him." She advised, and she was right if there is one thing I learned from working here is that scandal is unavoidable, it all depends on how you handle it. Jared spends all day dealing with everyone's scandals, and complaints, the least I can do is protect his private life.
I left Jessica's office and made a B-line for the secretaries break room lucky me I didn't have to find everyone one by one. "Linda, Maude, and Claire just who I was looking for." I greeted them in a sickly sweet voice. They stared confused, "Alice?" Linda replied smirking like she had won because of some cruel words over the Internet. "Look, Alice, we talked about it, and we aren't comfortable with you coming here anymore," Maude said playing peacekeeper. "Well, to be honest, it doesn't matter if your comfortable or not cause you don't own or run anything in this building" I replied smiling "Oh yeah, your Boyfriend does that?" Claire added with a quick laugh. "You know, I expected more out of you guys, I mean have you not heard of the pot calling the kettle black," I replied, and they shot me harsh looks, daring me to go on. "What are you implying?"
Maude asked. "Oh, nothing I just find it funny how you all judge me for dating Mr. Maverick the single, successful man. While you sleep with every D list celebrity that may or may not married" I said not letting my sweet demeanor fall. " YOU GOT A LOT OF NERVE" Linda yelled. "Yes, and I also have the numbers of the wives of said D list celebrities." I was bluffing big time there was no way that I would destroy a relationship that cruelly. Even if I did have there number's, but the truth isn't important what is important is that they believe me. Judging by there pale faces, I think they did. "Hmm, some people, they f**k the boss once, and they think they run s**t," Claire said. "You leave Mr. Maverick and Me alone, and I will leave you and you to your infidelity." I stuck out my hand ready to strike a deal. "Fine," they agreed, and I felt victorious.

Alice had been keeping her distance all day, and now she is late from her break. I racked my brain trying to decipher an error or blunder on my part to make her feel this way. Boop. I saw a chat window emerge on my screen. . a message from Polly popped up. I wasn't in the mood to deal with one of her nervous breakdowns. You and your w***e secretary. She attached a picture of me and Alice outside of the Rita's I felt my blood boil this is why she was so upset. I messaged back. She replied. My rage grew, not only from Polly's accusations but because I know someone is slandering Alice as we speak. I took a deep breath and waited for her reply if there was one thing Polly is right it's finding out the truth even when it doesn't concern her. She replied, I banged the desk furiously it's one thing to expose the private life I had become used to it, but Alice never asked for this. I racked my mind for a solution, but the only one that came to mind was to distance us until the culprit was caught. No, I have waited too long to be with her. I won't let this break us apart. I thought to myself, I will find this paparazzi and God have mercy on his soul when I do.
