Chapter twelve.

We talked about everything, I felt comfortable talking with Stephen like there was no pressure and I could just be myself. As he walked me back to my hut I thanked him for the walk and for listening to me talk his ear off. He laughed and nodded then took his leave, I had another bathe to try and relax and work thru some of the things that had happened lately. I got out and climbed into bed, knowing that a full nights sleep would do me the world of good. In the morning I woke up to Drac in a bad mood, I quickly got dressed and hurried outside to see what the matter was. “Drac, what is wrong?” “It is nothing, I am sorry that I woke you like that.” I joined him in the walk over to Godric’s hut; they were waiting for us out front. “Morning Eve, ready to start your training?” “Yes master.” We jumped straight into combat training, first with the bow and I have to say it is not as easy as it looks. I spent 3 days before I hit my first mark, within a week I was as good as any elf with a bow. Next was sword training, in this I was just a mere girl all day I was getting hit by the sword. 3 weeks in and I still could not duel with a sword then at the end of my first month there was a festival to honour the pact made with the dragons. Brom came to pick me up from my hut, I had found a white dress made out silk in a small basket on my front step with a note saying to wear it so I did. I had my hair pinned up and I looked like a real lady. “You look amazing.” “Thanks dad.” I smiled at him, he smiled up at me as the held out his hand to help me down the stairs, he looped his arm thru mine and we walked off to the festival. Everyone looked amazing, many male heads turned my way as we walked thru the city, I could feel Brom start to squeeze my arm a little which made me laugh. “Just relax, I may be a girl but in no way am I looking to date anyone. I am only here to train that it all.” He relaxed; I shotted Godric near the head table so I made an excuse and headed away from the group. Suddenly someone pulled me into an alleyway; I knew it was Godric without even seeing him. “Trying to stay away from me?” “Godric, what is going on with you? You’re acting drunk.” Then I remembered Brom telling me about the effects that this festival can have on some people. “Let me love you Eve like you should be loved.” Then his lips finally found mine. “Eve.” I heard Stephen and Brom calling, my head started to clear and stepped away from him. “My father and your own prince is coming, and they will not see us like this.” I think my father was pushing me towards Stephen but in my heart a spark was now burning for Godric. All night I could feel Godric watching me, waiting to get me alone again. It was nearly sunrise when I remembered that I hadn’t slept yet, everyone was still in high spirits so I quietly slipped away and back to my hut. As I lay down I could hear a whisper, then I lost all my vision. “Evalee, here is our gift to you. You paid a very high price for your bravery and courage, we will fix your body and mould it to match the battles ahead of you. Stay well Evalee and do not lose heart now when all will be clear soon enough. Go now and spread the word that there is hope to defeating the mad king.” I sat straight up and looked around but nothing had changed, my dreams were filled with memories of my family. I woke up at lunch to knocking on my door; I bounced out of bed in a great mood. “I have been looking everywhere for you? What in the hell happened to you?” his question shocked me, so I turned around and looked in the mirror and that’s when I saw their version of fixing my body. I looked more like an elf now, but I was still me. I told Brom what had happened last night when I got back to the hut. “We all felt a force but did not know why.” He walked me to the sparring yards, where Godric was waiting. So after explaining it all over again, we finally got down to training. I saw each move more clearly and was able to block and even counter it, by nightfall I had bested all but Godric and Brom. First up was Brom, his moves were easier to move from within minutes he was bested then it was Godric. I knew he had so many more years of fighting on me but I used that and all my female wile. You could see he was rusty with a blade so his fighting style was basic and easy to block and counter but it was his energy that surprised me, he never slowed and never showed signs of tiredness. But as he was coming towards me I just knew where to swing my blade, it came to a sudden stop just a breathe away from his neck. “So you know hand to hand combat now let’s see how your mental defence is.” I felt sudden attacks on my mind but I quickly started to sing again making a wall around my mind. I tried something new as I was singing I changed the words so I could gain into his mind, he didn’t even notice me worm my way into his mind. “Yield.” I yelled at him, but he didn’t. “Yield.” I said louder this time, his face twisted as if in pain. “I yield.” He whispered thru his teeth, I released my hold over him. My new body was proving to be worth the major changes now; all that was left of my training was the magical side of it. We broke off for what was left of the night, I wasn’t hungry so I went straight back to my hut and took a bath. I was soaking with my eyes closed, so I did not know he was here until I felt his fingers brush over my knuckles. “You were amazing today.” He whispered. “You shouldn’t be here Godric.” I whispered as he started to wash my back moving his fingers slowly over my unscarred skin, I knew if I didn’t make him leave then I would cave in.
