Chapter fourteen.

. “Wanted for questioning over the theft of the kings jewels. Reward 100 rubies.” I ran to Godric and asked him to scry for Roran, I got a bowl of water. I watched and waited but nothing, after a while he gave up. “Do not lose hope, all this means is that some one is blocking me from scrying for him.” The sun was starting to rise so we decided to go into the spine and see the kulls now, I wanted to have them with us for once. We went on foot and had the dragons fly above to help us spot them. “There is a small clearing just above you, looks to be a few of them.” Drac said protectively, I smiled. “Do not worry, who could ever resist my charms?” Orrin spat at me, I felt rage like I had never known before it filled my body. “And what have you done for this fight? Or even this world? You call yourself a king but yet your still a poor peasant playing king, your men follow because they must and not out of love or honour for you.” “Enough, I do not care what this man thinks of me and why should I? He is not my king and I owe him nothing, I will keep serving the Varden as that is what I have been doing and now we must talk of our next step as I have an idea that might help us win this war.” None disliked my idea for it was the only way to save our men and kill a lot more of the king’s men. Finally we called it a night, Drac and Saphira were sleeping already so Godric and I got into a nice hot bath together. “I can’t say I am too happy with all these men looking at you with such lust.” I laughed loudly. “Well it’s too bad that I am into men who are a lot older than they are.” Shock ran across his face then he nodded. “Well I can’t argue with that.” we talked about how we would do my idea, I knew the main area of the spine that they would be in but I would need him to talk to them as I hadn’t master every language. “Enough talking and making battle plans, all I want is to spend the next 6 hours with my arms around my girlfriend while we sleep.” We both needed to rest so without answering I got out of the bath and got dressed then got into bed and waited for Godric, I was nervous now I had never slept a night in a bed with a man before my whole body was trembling now as he crawled under the blanket with me. “Relax Eve, nothing is going to happen I just want to have my arms around you and never let you go.” He whispered into my ear then kissed my neck. “Sleep my love.” Then I closed my eyes and let sleep take me but my dreams were filled with nightmares of my home village burning, I could see people lying in the street dead and others running away screaming, there was something there attacking the homes and killing the people 2 creatures. They weren’t human nor elf nor dwarf nor kull, they were demons with ragged clothes, bugs crawled over their skin. I woke up sweating as I saw a glimpse of my home, I ran to where Brom was sleeping but he was up and getting dressed he looked up as I entered. “Did you?” I asked and he nodded, panic took over and I felt like I couldn’t move. “Eve, you need to wake Godric and both dragons we need to go now.” Before he had finished I was out the door running back to my room, Godric was already up and getting dressed. “Drac, wake up I need to go home now.” I shared my dream with him; they both roared with anger as we jumped up in to the saddles and took flight. Time seemed to go so slowly as we raced across the dessert up into the hills, finally we could see the flames high in the sky my heart froze as I thought of everyone but most of all Roran and my uncle. As soon as we were close enough I jumped off and ran to where the blacksmiths were still burning, I put out the flames then ran inside, I found Elena and her son Henry in the back room by the door. Relief took me when I saw no other but my heart broke for Hoast, we found none alive and 35 people dead. The village was too badly burnt to save, as I was just walking around I found a paper half burnt with my family’s name on it. step by step the clearing came into view, kulls started to come towards us now. “Peace we wish you no harm; I am a rider so is the girl to my left and another without a dragon. We wish to speak with your leader to make a bond, where we could live together to defeat the mad king then you could go to your own land to where no one will hurt you.” Godric was impressive to watch, we were sat at a large fire then 3 very old kulls came out to join us. “I am Godric, this is Eve and Brom.” After hours and hours of talking and making deals we finally had them on our side. “We will send word to all tribes to meet you in 7 moons at the belly of the mountains.” Then we parted and headed back to the Varden, I fell asleep on the ride back so Godric carried me to bed and told Brom not to let anyone wake us unless it was war. I did not dream this time, I slept too deeply to see anything. It was noon when I woke up again, I woke up alone but there was a small note on the pillow next to me. “Gone down to tell Ajihad what happened with the kull and in Carvahall. Join me when you wake. Love always Godric.” I smiled, it was funny how something as small as that would lighten ones day I quickly got dressed and did myself up a little bit then went down to find my boyfriend. I could see Helena chatting with a young soldier who I remember from the first battle, she waved me over and I smiled to myself as I did.
