He put his hands over my back and tried to heal me but it was beyond even his help, Stephen and the other members of the Varden’s magical group came to assist. The last thing I remember was hearing Brom say “You have to save my daughter.” I am not sure what exactly happened next but I woke up as the sun was rising, as I tried to stand my back seared with pain making me cry out. I regain my balance and stood up and slowly walked over to the opening and looked out, the people below where clearing the mess from the battle. I sent my thoughts out to Drac who was eating dead kull to help with the clearing. “Drac, I am glad you’re not hurt.” His joy at hearing my voice hummed thru the air, he flew straight to me. “I was so scared little one, I could not feel you at first but slowly you have been coming back to me. How do you feel?” “Sore, they weren’t able to heal me completely were they?” “No the shades blade was made from dark magic in which no healer came completely heal. We are going to the elves to meet with the queen so we will see if they can heal you more.” “Did I hear Brom properly when he called me his daughter?” Drac paused before answering. “I will let him talk to you about that.” I understood why, and I reached up and kissed his cheek. “I love you Drac.” “As I love you Eve.” I slowly made my way up to the saddle between Drac’s shoulders, and then we flew down to help with the remaining clean up. The people of the Varden keep coming up and touching me and whispering their congratulations on the battle. When Ajihad and Brom finally reached me I had to lean on Drac for support just to keep standing. “We are glad to see you up again but you should be resting, my men can handle this.” “No, as a rider I will help in all areas besides I am still a girl so cleaning up is in my nature.” I smiled. “But you and I need to talk.” I said to Brom who just nodded at me. I used energy from Drac so I could slowly move around and help out where I could, soon all the women came out with clothes and buckets of water to help me clean all the blood away so the children would not have to see it. As lunch was upon us I saw a mother holding a small baby closely to her and I could see the other women shunned her so I slowly made my way up to her and the baby. “Hi.” I smiled at her, she was around 20 years of age and the baby looked only days old for its size. “Hi, I am thankful to you in helping to keep us alive.” She said softly. “Why do you stand alone?” I asked softly. “My child was born deformed and so we are shunned for it.” “May I?” I asked as I held out my hands she nodded and let me hold the baby, as I slowly peeled the blanket away from the babies face I could see a gap between the little girl nose and top lip. I touched it softly and the baby stirred. “Drac, can you please take the 3 of us up to our room then collect both Brom and Stephen.” Drac came stomping over making the girl move behind me. “Do not fear him, he will fly us up to my room where I believe I can help your beautiful little girl.” Tears sprung into her eyes as she nodded, I help them into the saddle as I sat behind them. Moments later we were in my room and Drac was off to get the 2 men. “What do you do for work?” “Nothing at this time, my husband died in battle leaving me with my little girl and well no one would help because of how she looks.” “Well, I have a deal to make with you then. Drac and I will always be in and out of here and I would like to know that it is kept clean for when we return. A room can be made up for you and your little girl just to our left in room off from the kitchen. So that will take care of your board and as for payment I will have an account made up with the Varden allowing you to keep it stocked and clean. If there is anything else you may need you will be able to see them and just have them keep note until I return. My friends and I will see if we can help your daughter.” I looked up to see Brom and Stephen enter my room. “Thank you both for coming, this is my new friend. Her daughter was born with a deformity and she needs our help.” They both looked at the little girl and nodded, I laid the girl in the centre of my bed and we each took our places around her. Brom quickly taught me what I needed to say and do, we spent hours taking our turn to grow each tissue and muscle. “Now this last part is for you to do, you must shape her skin to seal what we have done.” I was nervous but he whispered. “As my daughter, find your centre.” I picked up the little girl and closed my eyes and pictured her face, the new shape of her little nose and those small red lips. I sang the song my aunt had sang to me as a child when I was scared. By the last note her face was complete and I opened my eyes, she was perfect in every way even Drac was pleased and kissed the babies forehead leaving the marking upon her brow. “May the stars watch over you.” The girl was crying as she kissed her daughter little lips. “Thank you, you have no idea how much this means to us.” “Now go down and get your little girl something amazing and show her off to the world.” I smiled up at her, Drac flew her down so I could lay and get some rest as I felt every nerve in my body shut down. “Thank you Stephen for your help but may I have a few moments alone with Brom before he goes.” “Rest well Eve, you did an amazing job your deeds will lighten the hearts of many from this day forth.” Then he was gone, leaving us alone.
