Chapter nine.

1030 Words
“So you’re my father? I guess I am not that surprised really, only a father would leave his home to make sure his daughter travelled safely and only a father would jump in front of a blade for his daughter. Did Garrow know?” “Yes, we stayed with him before she had left, I asked him not to tell you who I was due to being one of the kings enemies.” “I had a right to know, so what about my mother is she still alive?” “You need to understand about your mother first, I have looked in every corner of this world and I never found a trace of her but there is hope no matter how small that she is alive.” His eyes were glassed over with unshed tears, all I could do was nod I did not blame him in any way for all he had done, and it was all to protect me. “So am I able to tell people who my father is now?” He smiled warmly at me. “I would be honoured, you should get some rest. We are leaving for the elves in 2 days.” I laid back down in bed and watched as he left the room, so I had gained a father but now it meant that I had more to lose. In my dreams there was this man, he wore completely white clothes but the most mesmerizing thing was the fact that he was bathed in a golden light that blocked his face from sight, his voice was soft and loving like we had known each other our whole lives. “Come to me, come and see what wonders this world still holds. The beauty this world still has to offer” He said as I woke up, I went out to the opening and looked out to see a line of soldiers coming thru the tunnel system into the main yard. Drac flew up once I was washed and dressed. “You look beautiful little one.” Drac said proudly, I enjoyed the fact that he was always within my mind and how complete I felt. “So who are the soldiers?” “The elves, they have heard we are here and wish to see us.” “But we are only due to leave tomorrow to go to see them? So why have they come now?” I pushed it out of my head as I got onto the saddle then Drac flew us down to greet the guest’s, everyone bowed their heads as I walked past them. “You seem better.” Ajihad smiled at me, “How can I not be? I am alive, I found my father and now I meet elves.” I smiled back at him, moments later they were standing before us. Stephen stepped forward and twisted his hand over his heart and said something that I couldn’t understand. “Please forgive us Lord Ajihad for our Queen has only just learnt of the battle that took place here. And now we are here to take back the rider and the dragon to start their training at once.” I was annoyed at the tone he was using to speak to Ajihad and about us. “Forgive me sir but you have not yet told us your name.” I said calmly as I stepped forward towards Ajihad and the other council member’s. “And maybe a little girl such as yourself should learn her place and not speak when it does not concern her or to those above her.” He said looking down at me, Brom went to take a step toward when suddenly every weapon within the Varden was pointing towards the elves. “You see, this little girl is the new rider and this is my dragon Dracona. So you see elf, you have come far too late to help in battle or the cleaning afterwards and now you insult the very person you were sent to collect. As a speaker for your race, you have done them no justice or honour and I must say I am not eager to follow you thru this land to your city.” “Well said little one, your tongue grows sharp.” Drac said proudly within my mind, he bowed his head at me and Drac, “I am sorry my lady, I never would of spoken like that had I known. You are right I have failed my race, so please allow me to show you to the elven city so I might be able to atone for my mistakes. I am Ethan, son of Hausas.” “I am Eve daughter of Brom and this is Dracona son of varell.” “I have met most dragons in my years and I must say none have ever been as he is, apart from the first dragon.” “I shall look forward to picking your brain on our journey then.” I smiled at him, after a few more minutes Drac had to take me to rest. “Drac I was wondering if you could do something for me?” “Yes little one, I will take him.” I smiled as he knew exactly what I was thinking; I was having dinner brought up my room as sitting for too long made my back hurt. I was surprised when it was Stephen who brought it up. “I must say, you know how to handle yourself.” He laughed, “So we are going to my territory tomorrow, I must show you around between your training. There are so many beautiful things in the city.” He sat and talked while I ate dinner, he told me more about Brom and all the battles he had been in. “He started the Varden, but he never wanted the power to control it. Ajihad is only the second to lead.” I do not remember falling asleep at all, but it was morning when Hannah woke me up.
