“Ma’am.” The young man said as he stood up. “Sit down soldier, my name is Eve. Helena you should bring this young man home tonight, it will be good just to sit around and have a boring night in.” “You live with her?” he asked Helena, she blushed and nodded, then I got up and left and continued to look for Godric. I had a small bunch of kids following me around and hiding whenever I turned around, then I finally found him near the command tent giving pointers to the men without even thinking I walked up to him and gave him a kiss. The men whistled which made us laugh. “I want to say it was an honour to fight by your side, I am not one that you bow down to or even call ma’am. My name is Eve and I am a rider for the people, I might have changed on the outside but the same fire burns within my belly for vengeance for every day that the mad king has sat in that chair. I grew up as a farmer’s niece with no parents, now I know who I am daughter of Brom, and first female rider. Let’s show this mad king why he could fear us.” I helped in training the men, no one liked being bested by a girl so it made them tap into a part they never had before. Many came out to see the fights, it wasn’t really training it was more like stepping back and having some fun and relaxing. Each moment was precious so why not just enjoy it, soon everyone was bring out cooked food and drinks, as I looked around I saw everyone together laughing and being friends we needed these moments if we were to win this war. It was well into the night when it happened, I was having a drink with King Hawthor when I felt a sudden stab at my mind I didn’t even have time to start my song before he took over me. “Young Eve, may I say it is a pleasure to finally find you. I must say your proving to be quiet a thorn for me already, I trust that your training with the elves went well then? I can see that they made a new version of you as well. Where is my manners, I am King Galbatorix and I have a present for you, it should be arriving any minute now.” Just as he said it, I could hear the sound of dragon’s wings I looked to the sky and saw a blue dragon coming down. Suddenly I had control over myself again, I jumped onto Drac’s back and we took off into the sky, somehow I knew it before I even saw him it was Roran my heart broke into a million small pieces. “Come with us Eve, or die.” His voice was cold, unlike the Roran I knew. “You don’t have to do this Roran, it’s me Eve. You could never hurt me, I know you Roran, better than even you know yourself.” “By the looks we have both changed a great deal, I do not wish to hurt you Eve but I will if I must. You belong with us at Uru’bean, come home with me.” He held out his hand for me to take but I couldn’t as I looked at him with tears in my eye. “I am home Roran, you belong here with me, with real people like us.” He pulled out his sword and pointed it at me. “Let’s go Eve.” He yelled, I shook my head which made them attack us. “Get us out of here and away from the Varden.” “Eve, who is the rider?” I heard Godric ask. “Roran, I am leading him away from the Varden.” I broke off the connection, I strapped myself in so Drac could duck and weave. Finally we landed at the base of the mountain; I looked at Drac who nodded for he knew neither of us could hurt them. They landed within moments; I drew my sword and started to attack. He matched me blow for blow finally he nicked my neck; I stumbled backwards until I fell over. Roran came walking over and kneeled down in front of me. “Why fight me Eve? You always knew you could never win a fight against me, just come home with me and then we can be a family again. The king has riches beyond measure we can live a good life now.” I pushed his hand away then stood up. “I will save you from the mad king, I promise.” I cried as I lunged at him nipping his neck as well. “Always the same.” Looking at the cut. “Tell your king that we will be at Uru’bean soon enough.” Then Godric dropped in on Saphira, her roar seems to move the mountain. “Leave now hatchling, you are no match for us both.” “He will pleased to hear about this.” Roran said as he mounted his dragon and took off, I turned to Godric. “Why did you come out? Now he knows about you.” I cried, suddenly my world had been tipped upside down Roran was working for the king. I tended to Drac’s wounds as Godric tended to mine. We flew back to the Varden and I wasn’t going to spoil the mood so I joined in on the dancing and singing trying to work out what I was going to do now. In the morning when I woke up I felt better like something good was coming, I walked into the kitchen to see Helena and the boy from yesterday. “Morning.” I sang out as I walked in and out, I walked back to Godric who was just waking up. “So what’s on for today?” “The next steps in getting us all closer to the king.” I laid out my plan and we made the corrections it needed to work. “You’re dealing with it all?” “I can’t think about him, I have to think about the bigger picture right now. So I will get you what you need.” I kissed him quickly then I was out the door, there was a woman that knew all about the items I needed her name was Angela.
