The mysterious woman sat gracefully at the counter, her dark cloak settling around her like liquid night. Even without releasing her full aura, Chen Lin could sense she was on an entirely different level from the previous guests. Her eyes, sharp and intelligent, studied every corner of the Inn as if memorizing it.
Chen Lin poured her a cup of the enhanced healing water mixed with spirit herbs. The liquid glowed faintly under the lantern light.
"Thank you," she said, her voice smooth and low. She took a sip and raised an eyebrow slightly. "Interesting. A healing brew this effective in such a humble place. You're more than a simple caretaker, Host."
Chen Lin remained calm. "I only provide what the Inn allows. May I know your name?"
The woman paused, then gave a small, almost amused smile. "You may call me Yun Xue. I am… a wanderer, much like your Inn."
She didn't offer more, and Chen Lin didn't press. He had already learned from the Management Log that pushing powerful guests too hard could lower satisfaction. Instead, he prepared a simple but nourishing meal, steamed spirit rice with herb-seasoned meat from the previous monster essence.
As Yun Xue ate, the tension in her shoulders eased slightly. The notebook on the counter glowed softly in his mind, recording a slow but steady rise in satisfaction.
After finishing, she placed three medium-grade spirit stones on the counter. They were worth far more than anything the earlier guests had given.
"For the meal and the night," she said. "I also have information that might interest you. The beginner rifts are becoming crowded. Larger guilds are sending teams deeper in, and the Wang Family is already establishing control near the city entrance. They're looking for something, or someone."
Chen Lin's fingers tightened behind the counter at the mention of the Wang Family. His expression stayed neutral. "Thank you for the warning."
Yun Xue watched him carefully, as if sensing something beneath his calm. "You're new to all this, aren't you? Most Hosts would have revealed more ambition by now."
"I'm learning," Chen Lin replied.
She nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. "Wise. Ambition without strength is just noise."
She retired to the best available room. Before closing the door, she paused. "If this Inn truly wanders, perhaps we will meet again outside. Keep growing, Host Chen. The multiverse has few true neutral grounds."
The door clicked shut.
That night, the Inn absorbed the spirit stones. A noticeable change occurred: the main hall expanded slightly, and a small second floor began to form, with a narrow staircase. The golden gachapon machine pulsed brighter, as if pleased.
Chen Lin earned three new Golden Tickets from Yun Xue's high satisfaction.
He used one immediately.
The machine spun with elegant grace. When it stopped, a beautiful jade talisman appeared alongside a small blueprint scroll.
Guest Attraction Talisman (One-time) – When activated, significantly increases the chance of attracting higher-quality guests for the next 24 hours.
Basic Library Blueprint – Adds a small library room containing basic knowledge of rifts, cultivation, and multiversal common sense.
Chen Lin placed the blueprint on the counter. The Inn responded instantly, and a new door appeared on the side wall. Inside was a cozy room with three bookshelves, slowly filling with simple but valuable books and scrolls.
He spent the rest of the night reading. The knowledge was basic, but it filled many gaps: how dungeons and rifts worked, the ranking of awakened classes, the major powers rising in Jiang City, and vague mentions of the "World Rift Convergence" happening in one month.
Dawn arrived.
Yun Xue emerged looking refreshed. She gave him one last appraising look before leaving. "Take care of this place. It may become very important soon."
After she departed, Chen Lin activated the Guest Attraction Talisman. The air around the Inn shimmered faintly.
He stepped outside briefly. The rift felt less chaotic. In the distance, he spotted more adventurers moving with purpose.
The Wang Family's name still burned in his mind.
He wasn't ready to face them yet.
But every guest, every ticket, every new room brought him closer.
The Wandering Sovereign Inn continued its quiet journey, small for now, but steadily becoming something far greater.
