CHAPTER SEVEN

I've been training for the past few weeks and with each passing day, I feel stronger and better. Although the training hasn't been easy, as I am made to train harder than normal wolves, it is starting to pay off. A few days back, I took down a ruthless rogue, and I've never felt prouder of myself. I woke up sweating and felt tears streaming down my eyes to my ears. It felt so real, I could almost feel the pain. I wiped away the tears and laid back down and took a deep breath in and out. All nightmares feel real except that they're not, but the fact that I've had this same nightmare but in different forms thrice bothers me. If it wasn't real, why does it keep coming? The dream kept replaying in my head till I dozed off. In the morning, I greeted everyone and sat with them to have breakfast. My spoon danced with my food as I couldn't focus. I was disturbed by the nightmares. “Aries, are you OK?" Irene asked, staring at me. "Yeah, I'm fine” I whispered, uncertain of my answer. “You don't look OK, you know you can share whatever's bothering you with us right?" She asked, squeezing my hand softly. “I….. "It's OK, it's not a big deal” I sighed. “Aries, just because you're the white wolf doesn't mean you get to deal with stuff alone. Come on, talk to your family”, my dad persuaded me. I pondered whether I should tell them or just ignore it, but they were all staring at me expecting me to say something. “Something bad is about to happen…I've been having this nightmare, although just twice, but it gives this heavy and surreal feeling of emergency. The one I had last night…..I was somewhere. I can't tell where, but I was laughing and saying something funny to someone that I can't remember, and then suddenly I felt this heaviness in me, before I could tell what it was….. Someone stabbed me in my back. I turned around to see who it was. It was the same person I was laughing and talking to. The thing is that there's this feeling of familiarity between us. It felt like I knew them so well, but even with that I couldn't tell who they were. I've never seen that person before. So I just think something bad is about to happen either to me or to someone I know”, I explained and took a deep breath. It felt like I just took a big burden off my shoulders. “That sounds painful, but all I can say is that you should be careful about who you play around with. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it's nothing more than a nightmare,” my dad assured "Aren't you supposed to be in training?" Irene suddenly asked. I snapped out of my daydream and rushed out. I began to run as I was already late. Halfway, I met Isla and June. “Hey guys" I waved at them. "You know, I thought we had an agreement that you're both supposed to come to my house first so we could go together?” I complained. "Yes, we did, until you started going on morning runs without us”, Isla said. " I'm sorry, I haven't been sleeping well lately” I apologized. "Aries, I heard that as the white wolf, you won't be getting a mate?” June asked rhetorically. I paused and stared ahead. Now that I think of it, that sounds very lonely. I've seen people fall out with their mates, but others lived a wonderful life and even though I was scared, I still wanted it. But now….I won't be getting the chance to experience it at all. “Well yea, it's probably for the best right. With great power comes great responsibility and sacrifice," I replied sadly. June looked sad and Isla just stared at me quietly. “Not having a mate sounds so lonely. I'm sorry, Aries, but you'll be fine". Isla comforted me, rubbing my shoulders. We got to the training center and met others who were already training. We ran lapses and fought with each other. While giving the training teacher a hard time, the alpha walked in. “I can see everyone's busy" alpha Dominic said, and nodded to the trainer. “Yes alpha. Concerning Aries,I can tell you that she is getting quite strong for us to handle”, Jacob said, pointing to me. I giggled, shifting from one leg to another. “I've beaten him twice this morning”, I added, giving him a smile. "Is that so?? Well, if you're so strong now, then how about you face me?" The alpha said, taking off his jacket. I pursed my lips. I definitely don't want to fight the alpha, he'll beat me hands down. I stared at Jacob, and he raised his hands up in surrender, laughing. “If the alpha wants a match with one of the strongest wolves around, who am I to stop him?" he said, walking away. Everyone surrounded us, staring. “Alpha, I can't fight you, I'm not strong enough to fight you" I said, backing out. “Exactly, you have to fight me so you can be stronger. It's all part of learning. Come on Aries, show me what you've learnt", he replied, positioning himself. I stared around in disbelief, everyone stared at us, eager to know who'd beat who. I inhaled and faced Alpha Dominic. I attempted a strike, and he dodged it and hit me on my back. “This fight is also part of your training, so I won't go easy on you. I expect you not to go easy on me as well”, he said I attempted another strike which he dodged and kicked me in my leg. I groaned and gave him one after another, but he successfully dodged all of them, giving back blows of his own. “Aries, I can see you're holding back. I want you not to see me as your alpha but as your opponent. Stop holding back, I want to face the white wolf and not a regular wolf”, he said. I cracked my neck and repositioned. I unexpectedly gave him a blow when he wasn't expecting. I didn't wait for him to recover and delivered another one. Although he began fighting back, I had the upper hand and just when I thought I was winning, he struck me and I don't know what happened, but I suddenly shifted and growled at him.
