After Sebastian left, Wendy immediately scanned the signed divorce agreement and sent it to her lawyer.
Lawyer: Received, Ms. Carter. After the one-month cooling-off period, your divorce agreement will become legally effective.
Only after seeing the confirmation did she finally breathe out in relief.
Late that night, Wendy woke to find the house eerily quiet. The other side of the bed was cold and untouched, with no sign Sebastian had returned.
She threw off the covers and went downstairs for water, but the moment she stepped into the hallway, voices drifted from the study. After a brief hesitation, she walked toward the door and stopped outside just in time to hear Sebastian say, "Is cord blood the only way to save Sophia's baby?"
A brief silence followed before his low reply came again. "…Mm. Understood."
The study door opened at once.
"Wendy?" Sebastian froze when he saw her standing there. His gaze sharpened. "Did you hear anything?"
Wendy instinctively shook her head.
Only then did his expression soften. He slipped his coat over her shoulders and lowered his voice. "Wendy… let's have a baby."
Her head jerked up, her voice trembling. "What did you say?"
Sebastian seemed not to notice her reaction. He tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and repeated calmly, "I said, let's have a baby. Tonight."
Before Wendy could react, Sebastian swept her into his arms and carried her toward the bedroom.
She snapped out of her shock at once and began struggling violently. "Are you insane? Sebastian, let me go!"
Tears flooded her eyes as pain twisted through her chest, wrenching at her heart. She had already lost one child, and now Sebastian wanted her to sacrifice another for the baby in Sophia's womb.
Inside the bedroom, he laid her carefully on the bed, pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, and began unfastening his shirt.
"Wendy, I just want a child that belongs to us."
"A child that belongs to us?" Wendy let out a bitter laugh through her tears. "You think I heard nothing? You want to use our baby to save Sophia's child!"
Sebastian did not stop. "You're wrong, Wendy. If Sophia's baby has a problem, then I don't want it. I only want a child with you. If we have another baby, you'll stay."
"Sebastian, get off me!"
Wendy sobbed and shoved against his chest with all her strength.
A dark frown settled over Sebastian's face. "You hate me that much? We're husband and wife. Having a child is only natural between us. You shouldn't resist."
His voice grew harsher with every word. "You should tell me you love me. Say it. Say you love me."
His eyes reddened, and his face twisted into a darkness Wendy had never seen before.
She froze in terror, and in the next second, his lips crashed down on hers.
As they struggled, Wendy's hand struck the water glass on the bedside table. She snatched it up without hesitation and smashed it against Sebastian's head with every ounce of strength she had.
The man above her went still at once.
Wendy shoved him off and scrambled out of bed, her whole body trembling violently.
"You're insane."
She clutched her clothes shut and stared at the blood trickling down his forehead, her legs nearly giving out beneath her. Then she lifted her eyes to glare at him, every word forced through gritted teeth.
"Sebastian, my child is dead. You should be dead too."
