1755 Words
¶GHR's Central Hospital ¶ Ava sat in the waiting room, It's been an hour already since the lake incident and she couldn't still process what happened. Half an hour ago a handsome looking guy arrived, probably the poor man's son. But he looked wealthy. He's rich aura and clothing. Ava thinks , her eyes drifting towards Alex who stood outside his father's room, his intense gaze fixed on his phone. She couldn't help but notice his chiseled features and commanding presence, her expression likely a mix of curiosity and disdain given her feelings towards the wealthy. Alex, sensing her gaze, turned towards her, his eyes narrowing as he took in her worn clothes and wet hair. He raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "You think you're some kind of hero, don't you?" he said, his tone dripping with disdain. "Saving a rich old man, expecting a reward, no doubt." Ava's eyes flashed with annoyance. What the Heck! Is he talking to me?!! Me! A gold digger??!! Isn't he supposed to be thanking me??! "I didn't do it for a reward," she said, her voice firm. "I did it because it was the right thing to do. Unlike some people, I don't judge someone's worth by their bank account." Alex's gaze turned cold, his jaw clenched. "You have no idea who I am or what I'm about," he said, his voice low and even. "You'd do well to mind your own business." Mind my business?? “Look who's talking about minding my business, Yo— Ava didn't get to complete her words, when a nurse interrupted. "Excuse me, Mr. Grayson is awake and wants to see both of you." Alex immediately walked into the room, ignoring Ava completely. Handsome ASSHOLE! Wait did she just say Grayson?! "Wait ..if the man I saved is Mr Grayson as in the chairman of Grayson Industries, that means this handsome Rudy is one of he's sons!!!" Ava muttered realization hitting her. Her eyes popping out. But he's Soo rude! Ava took a deep breath, trying to calm herself He's looks doesn't suit him....at all. 'What am I saying, He's not even that good looking, pfft!' Ava said trying to bring herself to believe the lies she just said. She didn't want to let her emotions get the better of her, especially not in front of the chairman. When she entered the room, the chairman's eyes lit up, and he smiled weakly at her. "Ah dear, thank you for staying," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. Ava smiled at Mr Grayson shyly and Alex scoffed. Despite Alex being arrogant, rude and cold. He's a freaken NARCISSIST. He hates poor people and sees them as dirty beggers. 'And she's probably one, a dirty gold digger... with a bad attitude' Alex smirked eyeing her drained face and scattered wet reddish hair. Ava eyes snapped towards his and their eyes locked. Alex's deep blue gaze stared deep into Ava's Hazel eyes. Her breath hitched. What the —?? Alex returned he's gaze to he's tablet and Ava lowered her eyes. The Chairman (Mr Grayson) who noticed what just happened smiled to himself. The chairman turned to him, a grateful grin still on his face. "Alex, meet the kind person who saved me," he said, his eyes glowing with appreciation. Alex didn't respond, his gaze fixed on his tablet. Ava's eyes narrowed, and she glared at him. How could he be so rude to an elder, his own father? she thought to herself. The chairman asked Ava her name, and she replied with a smile, despite looking drained. "I'm Ava," she said, her voice soft. Alex looked up at her, his eyes lingering on her worn clothes and wet hair. He couldn't just stop looking at her hair... Which Ava took offensive. He stood up, his movements fluid. "Seems like you're doing better, Father," he said, his tone neutral. The chairman, pretending not to notice the tension between them, smiled at Alex. "Yes, I am. Thanks to Ava here." Alex's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to darken slightly. He nodded at his father and turned to leave. "I have business to attend to," he said, his tone dismissive. Ava watched him go, feeling a mix of relief and annoyance. She turned to the chairman, who was watching her with a grin on he's face. "I'm glad he showed up," he said, his voice filled with affection. "I wasn't expecting him to." Ava raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the chairman's reaction. "He doesn't seem very... pleasant," she said diplomatically. The chairman chuckled weakly, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Alex is a complex person. He's cold and calculating, but he's loyal to those he cares about. Most people don't get past his exterior, but I think you might have gotten under his skin." Ava's expression turned skeptical. "I doubt that, sir. We didn't exactly get off on the right foot." The chairman's smile grew wider. "I'm sure you didn't. But that's okay. I'm just glad you're here." And she smiled lightly at the old man. The chairman's smile lessened and he's face turning slightly serious. "I want to repay you for your kindness," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. Ava shook her head, feeling a bit uncomfortable. "No need, sir. I'm just glad I could help," she said, trying to decline. Even though she needed money, she can't let Alex win she's not a gold digger. The chairman persisted, his expression determined. "I insist, Ava. You saved my life, and I won't take no for an answer." Just as Ava was about to respond, her phone rang, the screen flickering despite being damaged. "Mom" was boldly written on the screen, and Ava's eyes widened as she saw the time: 10:34 pm. Her shift had ended hours ago. "Damn," she muttered under her breath, feeling a surge of panic. She quickly excused herself, stepping out of the room to answer the call. "Mija, where are you?" her mother, Mia, scolded, her voice loud and worried. "We've been trying to reach you all night. You were supposed to be home hours ago!" Daisy, chimed in, "Yeah, Ava, what's going on?" Ava took a deep breath, trying to calm them down. "I'm so sorry, Mom. I got into an incident, and I lost track of time. I'll be home soon, I promise." Mia's voice laced with worry. "An incident? What kind of incident? You're not hurt, are you?" Ava reassured them. "No, Mom, I'm fine. I just...saved someone's life, and I had to stay with them until they were stable." Daisy squealed. "Ooh, dramatic much?" Ava rolled her eyes, despite feeling a bit relieved . "It's not like that, Daisy. Just...just be patient, okay? I'll be home soon." As she ended the call, Ava took a deep breath, feeling a bit frazzled. She headed back into the chairman's room, trying to compose herself. The chairman looked up at her, his expression still determined. "Ava, I want you to know that I'll pay you back, whether you like it or not," he said, his voice firm. Ava felt a surge of frustration, but she couldn't argue with him. "My mom just called, and I really need to get going," she said, trying to change the subject. The chairman's expression softened, and he nodded. "I'll arrange for my driver to drop you off," he said, his voice gentle. Ava smiled weakly, feeling a bit grateful. "Thank you, sir. That's very kind of you." •••••••••••••• °GRAYSON'S MANSION° ∆ RAYA's Residence ∆ The room was completely dark except the little light that peeked through the curtains which danced to the soft hum of the wind. ”Ohh—ahhhhhh“ ”That's right “ Raya moaned as she was being pounded by a huge bodied man. It has been going on for over three hours now and she's not still satisfied. The man getting tired rolled off her, breathing heavily. ”I can't do this anymore Miss Raya“. He mumbled grabbing he's trousers. ”What??!, You will do as I say or else I will burn your stupid club to ashes. Try me “. Raya threatened with a smirk plastered on her face. The man looked at her sighing loudly before walking out without a single word and Raya's eyed twitched. Did he just walk out on me??!!! Raya sneered, taking her phone from the bedside table. As the screen flickered on she saw 15 missed calls from an unknown number. Raya frowned at it, before rolling her eyes. She located the number she wanted to call and dialed it. The person picked immediately. ”Burn Club black to ashes leave no remains, with he's whole family inside. You know how I like my things done“. She said stretching her manicured nails. And with that she ended the call, walking majestically into her bath tub. No one disobeys her and goes scot free. No one!! * ”Good morning young mistress “. The maids and staffs greeted Raya with their heads bowed. But she ignored them cat walking to her car. Her bodyguards following closely behind. Raya was the only daughter of Grayson Dolan. The chairman of Grayson Industries. She and her twin brother Ryan shared a different mother from Alexander. Alex's mom died of an unknown disease when he was just five years old. Mr Grayson married another wife few years later and gave birth to twins, Raya and Ryan. Raya was a s*x addict, she rarely comes home only when she was summoned by the chairman. Raya answered, her voice even. ”Uhh good morning Miss Raya, I just got a call from the chairman's PA.... He's been in an accident and they have been trying to reach you all night“. Her personal assistant Jasmine said through the phone. ”He's what?!!“. Raya gasped.
