¶HEAD MANSION
Raya stormed into the mansion, her designer stilettos clicking on the marble floor. She was clad in a sleek black jumpsuit, her hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. "Where's my father?" she barked at a maid who was hurrying to get out of her way.
The maid curtsied slightly. "He's in his room, Lady Raya. Recovering from the accident."
Raya's expression didn't soften as she strode towards her father's room. She pushed open the door and strode in, her eyes scanning the large, opulent room. The chairman lay on a massive four-poster bed, surrounded by expensive artwork and lavish furnishings.
"Father, what exactly happened?" she demanded, her voice firm and commanding.
The chairman smiled weakly, his face pale and drawn. "Raya, dear, I'm fine. Just a little bump."
Raya's gaze narrowed. "What about your driver? Where was he?"
The chairman's expression turned serious, and he hesitated before speaking. "My driver, Thomas, he's been with me for years. He veered off the road and jumped out before the car went into the lake."
Raya's anger simmered. "That's suspicious. Do you think it was an accident?"
The chairman's voice was grave. "I think it was intentional. And I suspect The McKinney Industry might be involved."
Raya's anger boiled over. "This wouldn't have happened if Ryan wasn't in prison. Alex is incompetent, and you've always favored him."
The doctor entered the room, and Raya's father nodded. "Let me finish with the doctor."
After the doctor finished checking the chairman, Raya turned to him. "You're done here. Leave."
The doctor nodded and quickly exited the room.
Once the doctor left, Raya's anger resurfaced. "Father, you know Ryan didn't deserve to be in prison. Alex has always been your favorite, and it's not fair."
The chairman's expression hardened. "Raya, even though it pains me, Ryan deserved his punishment. Let's not discuss this further."
Raya's face twisted in anger, and she stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
¶AVA's Residence
The dry Saturday afternoon cast a warm glow over the small living room.
Ava lounged on the grumpy old couch, its worn cushions conforming to her slender frame. The faded floral curtains let in a warm, golden light, and the worn-out rug seemed to whisper stories of the family's history.
Ava's mom, Mia, sat in a chair directly facing her, her crippled legs wrapped in a warm blanket.
Mia's eyes sparkled with concern as Ava recounted her story of saving Mr. Grayson's life.
"He was rude to you?" Mia asked in her gentle Mexican tone, her voice laced with a hint of annoyance. Her hands, though, were busy knitting a scarf, a familiar motion that Ava had grown up watching.
Ava nodded, her eyes flashing with annoyance. "Yeah, Mom. He looked at me like I was beneath him." Ava's voice dripped with frustration, and Mia's expression softened in response.
Mia's gaze drifted off, lost in thought. "Rich people often think they're better than everyone else," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness.
"But we know better, m'ija. We know that true wealth comes from the heart, not from a bank account."
Ava smiled, feeling a sense of connection to her family's past. "I guess you right. We may not have much money, but we have each other. And that's what truly matters."
Ava's words hung in the air, and for a moment, the two of them just sat there, enjoying each other's company.
Just as Ava and Mia were enjoying the quiet moment, the door burst open, and Daisy ran into the room.
Her face was gloomy, and her eyes were red-rimmed from crying. She didn't even notice Ava and Mia's concerned expressions as she rushed past them and into her room.
Ava's eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly stood up.
"Daisy, what's wrong?" she asked, but Daisy didn't respond. Ava looked at Mia, who nodded for her to go after Daisy.
Ava followed Daisy into her room, where she found her sister curled up on her bed, tears streaming down her face.
Ava sat down beside her and wrapped her arms around her. "Daisy, what's going on? Why are you so upset?" Ava asked, trying to comfort her sister.
Daisy hesitated before speaking, her voice barely above a whisper. "Those rich girls at school... they bullied me again. They said I'm poor and ugly, and no one will ever like me."
Ava's heart went out to her sister, and she held her close. "Hey, don't listen to them, Daisy. You're beautiful, inside and out. And I love you no matter what."
Ava tried to reassure her sister, but she could see the pain still lingering in Daisy's eyes.
Ava held Daisy close, trying to comfort her as she sobbed. "You know, Daisy, those girls don't know anything about you. They're just jealous of your sparkle," Ava said, trying to lighten the mood.
Daisy sniffled, and Ava could see the tears starting to dry. "Really?" Daisy asked, her voice still shaky.
Ava nodded. "Yeah, really. You're an amazing person, Daisy. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise." Ava smiled, and Daisy managed a small smile back.
As they sat there, Ava's phone suddenly pinged with an incoming message. She pulled it out and checked the screen, her eyes widening in surprise. Her mouth dropped open, and she felt a mix of emotions swirling inside her.
"What's wrong?" Daisy asked, noticing Ava's expression.
Ava's eyes scanned the message, her mind racing. "It's from Grayson Industries... I've been appointed as a secretary," Ava said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Daisy's eyes widened in excitement. "That's amazing, Ava! Congratulations!" But Ava's expression was more complex, a mix of surprise and trepidation.
“No no, you don't understand! I didn't offer for the job of a secretary and it's Grayson Industries Dia!!”. Ava voiced out feeling extremely shocked.
Diasy paused still not understanding what she meant.
“The man I saved last night...the chairman I told you of... Grayson!! ”. Ava said shaking Diasy as if to jug her memory.
“Ohhhh right.... that's true ”. Diasy paused. “So he did kept he's word...we are gonna be RICH!!!!”. Diasy declared hugging shocked Ava .
Ava stood up, breathing heavily, her eyes glued to the message as she walked out of the room and Diasy followed her going to inform Mia.
Just then another message entered.
“Dear Ava Morales, You are to start your Job on Monday morning strictly 8AM. No interviews so make sure to look your Absolute BEST.
You will be appointed to your designated Boss. Good luck ”
Ava read it out loud and Diasy screamed in excitement.
“Omg Ava that's like a dream come true..my sis is going to be working for one of the biggest company in LA ”. Diasy giggled sitting by Mia's side.
Mia's eyes lit up “M'ija are you sure it isn't a mistake.. check the address ”.
“Oh come on mom, you are supposed to be happy and who knows Ava might get a rich boyfriend there ”. Diasy said earning a smack from Mia and she pouted.
Ava sat on the couch rechecking the address and name over and over again. When it had sinked in that the message wasn't wrongly delivered ,she pulled Mia and Diasy into a passionate hug.
“I can't believe this,me?? Working as a secretary for Grayson Industries ”. Ava mumbled admist the hug, disbelieve evident in her voice.
“Yeah sis, you are. And now you have to find what to wear!!”. Diasy said pulling away.
“Thats true dear, you don't have any corporate outfit,do you?”. Mia asked holding Ava's chin up.
Ava was quite for some minutes before she stood up excitedly. “I do... the gift Nana gave me after our graduation from uni”
Ava ran back into the room, going through her clothes in search of it.
She pulled it out from the bottom, folded neatly still inside the package.
“Never thought I would wear this”. She whispered ,her fingers brushing over the fine fabric.

Alex leaned back in his leather chair, steepling his fingers as he gazed out the floor-to-ceiling windows of his high-rise office.
He's phone rang out and he took it, he's deep blue eyes scanning the caller ID.
“I told you never to call me directly, didn't I”. Alex muttered he's dryly.
“Sorry Mr Alex, I couldn't get to your secretary and the chairman wants to speak to you”. The chairmans PA Peter said through the phone.
Alex sighed. “What is it about this time”
“Let me pass the phone to the chairman ” Peter mumbled and Alex rolled he's eyes.
“Ahh Alex, you forgot about your old man”. The chairman winned.
“ I'm busy and besides why did you fire my assistant without my permission ”. Alex asked he's tone serious.
“That's because you have a new one and she will be starting tomorrow ”. The chairman voiced and Alex scoffed.
“ Impossible, I never asked for a replacement ”
“You have no choice Alexander, She's starting tomorrow and no one has the right to fire her except me.” The chairman stated leaving no room for argument.
Alex sighed in response and the chairman hung up.
Alex stormed out of he's office and he's bodyguards followed.
Every staff who saw him bowed their head as he made he's way outside.
Immediately the he walked past the Manager's office he stood up immediately bowing he's head leaving he's sit.
“Find out who the new secretary is”. Alex groaned and the manager nodded following him as he left the building.
“Yes sir ”.
As the back door of the car was being opened. Thompson paused.
“Oh and sir?, ST. Purple Fashion House is eager to design your outfit for the dinner party. Three top designers – Brioni, Tom Ford, and Dior – are competing for the contract. They're getting quite persistent."
Alex smirked, shaking his head. "Tell Dior to bring their A-game. And for the love of all things luxurious, don't let them even think about sending me something from the clearance rack. I wear designer, not 'I-found-it-in-my-grandma's-attic' chic."
Thompson nodded in response as he watched the car zoom off.
