"Where are we headed?" Skylar asked Sadie as they sat talking at the kitchen table.
Sadie laughed, "Well since we are already off schedule, it depends on where you want to go your royal highness." Sadie rolled her eyes as she pulled out the map of the areas they should have already been.
"We skipped a few packs by flying here," Dylan pointed out.
Jerrika came running in, crying, "Mitch is gone. His clothes are missing and there wasn't even so much as a note. Why would he just leave in the middle of the night?"
Everyone looked at her like she had grown a second head and they didn't understand a word that she was saying.
Skylar shook her head, "What? Who's Mitch?"
"My husband?" Jerrika questioned back.
James laughed, "Jerrika, you aren't married. You haven't found your mate yet."
Emily walked over to Jerrika and led her out of the room. Everyone just stared after them as they left.
Abby frowned, "Why did she think she was married? She hasn't been able to find the last elemental guardian, yet."
Dalton shook his head, "I guess she just wishes that she had met her mate. It seems to be hard on her to see all of us mated."
"She didn't even go to bed until really late," Dylan shook his head. "I was up with Billy when she slipped into her room like she was being careful not to wake up someone."
Skylar frowned, "I was up with Donnie around two or three o'clock when I heard her crying out in her sleep again. She use to have these horrible dreams when we were kids about her time before she came to live with our pack."
Peter listened as he recalled all the events of the day before. No one could remember the story about his son and him being Taina's mate. Now they couldn't remember Mitch, what else could they be forgetting? Peter wasn't sure what to ask to find out so he just got up to follow his wife and Jerrika.
Sadie laughed, "Well, back to where are we headed?"
James rolled his eyes, "I don't want to backtrack. So let's go through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and then we will decide where to go from there."
"We have this pack here in Rachel, Nevada that wouldn't be too far out of the way to visit," Skylar pointed out.
"You are right, we should start with the Tipped Fire Pack. We are traveling as wolves, Beth and Becky will meet us in Arizona in a couple of days. Donnie and Billy can stay with them here and when we are getting close to the Sandy Fire Pack, we will call and let them know," Sadie agreed.
Jerrika was standing at the door with Emily and Peter, "What about Mel? They don't plan on taking her with them."
Emily shook her head, "Let's go check on the children."
Peter stood in the doorway, "So where did you say you are headed?"
"Tipped Fire Pack in Rachel, Nevada, the UFO Captial of the world," James laughed thinking about his small research of the area.
Sadie laughed, "They have less than a hundred humans and think that UFOs are real. They have no idea that there is a pack of more than two hundred elementals even exist out there."
At that very moment, a stranger walks into the room, "Hey, guys. I want to travel with you."
No one turns their head to look at the stranger or even to acknowledge that he is there. Peter smiles, "Son, when did you get here?"
"Dad, I am always about. No one even notices me at all," Jacob says.
Peter shakes his head, "I don't ever see you. Why am I seeing you now?"
"Jerrika," was all that Jacob said.
"You ok, Papa," Skylar asked, as she pulled her eyes brows close together.
Peter nodded, "Yeah, I am fine. I was just thinking out loud."
Jacob shook his head, "They can't see me. It is strange that they have forgotten their daughter and their companion as well."
"What happened to them?" Peter asked in a whisper.
James looked up, "What happened to who?"
"Sorry, I will leave you to your plans," Peter shook his head as he walked out of the kitchen and down to the study with Jacob.
"They disappeared, a lot like I did. I don't understand why it happened the first time or why you can finally see me but I think it has something to do with Jerrika." Jacob paused as he tried to gather his thoughts. "Did you say she was created as a minion by Merlia?"
"Yes," Peter said as he stood there starring at his son. "You haven't aged very much since the day you disappeared. I want to hug you and celebrate your return but I think you might just be my imagination running wild again."
Jacob laughed, "No, Dad. I am real. You can see me, touch me, hug me, talk to me. I guess I should be grateful that you finally can see me but I am just so confused by everything that is happening. Mitch has Thomas's wolf and that wolf is one of the original elementals. Mitch and Melody just disappeared without a trace, much like I did. Then of course the miracle that you can finally see me. I am so used to being around and no one hears, sees, or notices me. Didn't you ever wonder where the food went that just disappeared? Didn't you ever find it odd that your files in your office would just move to different places and you couldn't explain it? You never asked out loud but you had to ask yourself those questions in your mind."
"Who are you?" Jerrika asked as she turned the corner to the study.
Emily's eyes widened, "Jacob? Son, is that you?"
"Jacob? As in your son that disappeared without a trace? The son that has been gone for what like 25 years? This guy looks to be about 20 if he is that old," Jerrika was questioning but still amazed that this guy looked so much like the picture that Emily was able to hold on to of him. That picture was in the "safe" room but maybe it wasn't so safe after all.
