Sharing the Memories

1038 Words
After spending hours in Peter and Emily's office, Jerrika was no closer to getting Mitch to remember anything than when they first walked through the door. It wasn't just the room that kept them from keeping the memories of Jacob and Taina. It was the memories themselves. Jerrika was now on a mission to figure out why no one could remember what had happened other than her, Peter, and Emily. Jerrika said, "Honestly, I don't know what keeps happening. It is as if you are getting it, and then boom, it is gone again. Let's take a break. Why don't you go to bed, and I will keep trying to rack my brain to come up with a solution." Mitch looked at her confused, "A solution to what? What were we talking about?" Frustrated, Jerrika shook her head, "You need to go to bed." She leaned down and gave him a gentle kiss. "Good night. When are you going to come to bed? It is already after midnight," Mitch moaned as he stood. "Soon enough," Jerrika said as she opened Peter's office door for her husband. Emily smiled, "I think I am going to bed too. This is all too much for me. I love that someone can finally collect our memories other than us. However, it is draining. I love Peter very much, but we both miss our mates. We also share the loss of our son. I pray to the moon goddess that you can help us discover what happened to him." "I hope so too, Emily. You both deserve closer," Jerrika smiled. Mitch turned around, "Jacob is your son, and Taina is your mate, I remember. I don't know how but I remember that I couldn't keep the memories before." Peter laughed, "How about that? You walked out of the room and forgot. You walked out of my office and remembered." "I know Jacob. I can't tell you how I know him because I can't remember, but I do know him," Mitch shook his head. "We were really close as kids. I remember one day, you went on a trip, and when you came back, he wasn't with you." Emily shook her head, "That can't be right. Jacob would be 37 now. You are only 23." Mitch nodded, "You are right, but so am I. I can't explain it. Cassandra created me like she created the originals and gave me the spirit of one of them. His spirit traveled freely from elemental to elemental until he could be placed in my body. His spirit is what remembers not my mind." Mitch sat down on the floor in the hallway. He placed his head in his hands, "I can see him. He had dark brown hair and the same blue eyes as Peter. He was confused about turning into his wolf at only twelve since most wolves don't turn until eighteen. Jacob kept asking me to sneak and go with him, but my father wouldn't let me go. I was the gardener's son." Mitch snatched his head up and looked around, confused, "What am I don't on the floor?" Peter and Jerrika exchanged a confused look. "Mitch, honey, what is the last thing you remember?" Jerrika pried. "Telling you good night," Mitch stated. Emily smiled, "Thomas James, I remember him. He decided to leave when he turned twenty-one. He didn't want to be a gardener like his father. One afternoon, his father came into the house to bring me some fresh flowers. He had received a letter that his son had perished in a battle with some harpies." "That's right, but Mitch was already here at that time," Peter asked. Emily shook her head, "It could be that maybe his wolf was replaced." "Cassandra created Mitch. Maybe she gave him everything he needed except his wolf, or she gave him a wolf, and now he has two like Skylar and Sadie," Jerrika pointed out. Mitch looked up at them, confused as he stood to his feet, "I don't know what you are talking about. As far as I know, I only have one wolf." Peter grabbed Mitch by the elbow and led him back into the office, "Have a seat on the couch. I will fix you a glass of water. While we tell you what happened." "Honey, your wolf started talking to us. Telling us everything that we were asking you to try to remember. Your wolf knows Jacob, their son," Jerrika explained. Mitch sighed, "I didn't know about your son. I'm sorry what happened to him." "That's not important right now. Your wolf remembers him, and they were best friends until the day that he disappeared. We would like to try to talk to your wolf again if that is ok with you," Emily tried to explain. "I don't know how to let you do that. The only way I know that wolves can communicate is in wolf form. What makes you think it was my wolf?" Mitch asked, confused. Jerrika closed her eyes and explained the whole conversation to Mitch. Mitch got frustrated because he didn't remember a single word and stormed out of the office. Peter looked at Jerrika, "Maybe you should go try to talk to him." "Not tonight. I am going to head to bed, and maybe we can figure all this out in the morning. Tiana visited the originals. Maybe Mitch and I could go back there and see what all happened. I want to talk to Tabitha and see if she remembers anything as well," Jerrika sighed as she stood up from the chair. "Good night, Jerrika. If you need anything from us, don't hesitate to ask," Emily said as she embraced her. Peter sighed and sat down on the couch as he tried but failed at fighting back tears, "I can't believe someone else can remember our son. I still love Tiana like I did that first night I met her. I love Emily very much and will stand beside her until we die. I just want to see Tiana and explain how much she means to me still." Jerrika nodded, "I think I can understand that. Good night. I will see you both in the morning."
