Explaining the Changes

The power of the Lupinomicon weakened King Theo, "I feel as if the book is draining all the power from my body." King Theo gasped for air, turned to look to his daughter, "Daisy, quickly, go to my office and bring the binging of the Bestiary. That is the only part that is left."
"Father, are you okay?" Daisy asked.
"Yes, just do what you are told," King Theo said between gasps.
Daisy bowed, "Yes, Father." Leaving the room to do what her father had told her.
James helped King Theo to his seat, "Is there anything I can do for you?"
King Theo shook his head, "No, it seems to be passing now. I don't know what made me feel so weak."
At that moment, Katie arrived with tea and cookies, "Your Majesties, would you enjoy some refreshments?"
"Thank you, please," Skylar answered.
James smiled and nodded.
As Katie passed out refreshments to everyone, Queen Tia entered. "Hello, all. Welcome to our home. I am Queen Tia. I hear that you are the famous King James and Queen Skylar of the Royal Family of all Royalty. It is such a pleasure to have you in our home," Queen Tia said rather snobbishly.
Skylar smiled warmly, "The pleasure is all ours. Thank you for having us. It is a shame that so many homes were lost in the fire. I can only pray to the Moon Goddess that there weren't any casualties."
Skylar and James shoot each other a knowing glance.
King Theo nodded, "We all pray to the Goddesses that we won't have to face any mass funerals."
Before anyone else could say anything, Daisy entered and handed the binding to the Bestiary to her father.
King Theo held out the binding to James, "King James, please look inside and see if you can tell me what the binding says about the combining of the two books."
James took the binding from King Theo and opened the cover, "This is an ancient language that our first ancestors used. I want to take this to the old council to see if they could help us translate it correctly. That is if that is alright with you."
"No, that book is not leaving this territory, no matter how small it is now," Queen Tia huffed. "It doesn't matter who you are or what you represent. The Bestiary belonged to my father and all of my ancestors before him."
"Tia, settle down. This is our king and queen over all of the creatures of the earth beside the humans. You will treat them with the utmost respect," King Theo snapped at his wife.
Queen Tia stormed out of the room.
Dylan smiled, "I know most of the ancient language because my parents are the original elementals. Would you mind if I looked at it?"
King Theo smiled, "I would prefer that my wife not make a fuss. If you think you can translate it correctly, by all means."
Dylan stood from his chair and gently lifted the book out of James's hands. He walked over to a table in the corner of the room. "Do you have a notepad and pencil that I might use to write down the translation?"
Daisy smiled, "Yes, sir. Let me retrieve it for you. It is in the desk on the other side of the table." Daisy walked over and opened the drawer, and she smiled at Dylan.
Sadie didn't like the looks that Daisy was giving her husband. "Daisy, do you have your mate yet?" Sadie asked as pleasantly as possible.
"No, ma'am. Dragons do not find their mates until they reach their twenty-first year. I am only in my sixteenth year," Daisy explained. "I do have a male dragon friend, but we are only friends. We hope someday that we will be mates."
King Theo laughed, "You have other matters to tend to in the next few years before you become anyone's mate."
Daisy shook her head, "Yes, Father, I will take my leave. I would love to learn of Mr. Dylan's answer to the binding, though. Will you please let me return when the time comes?"
"Yes, Daisy," King Theo answered.
Jerrika knocked on the living room door, "King James, Queen Skylar, King Theo, may we please enter?"
King Theo nodded, "Yes, please do."
Skylar stood up and smiled, "These are Jerrika, Mitch, Abby, and Dalton. They are our guardians. I hope you don't mind that I have asked them to check the village for any deaths."
"Please report your findings. I have my guards out checking as well," King Theo stated.
Mitch stepped forward, "There are at least four deaths. A dozen or so are being treated at the hospital. About five have already been released and are staying at the inn until their homes can be rebuilt. At least one of the women at the hospital is with child; her name is Molly."
King Theo's eyes widened, "Molly?"
"Yes, sir. Molly Telanot. Her husband Austen is with her now. They believe that the child is fine. Their son, Todd was one of the casualties; the young man was only three," Jerrika explained.
King Theo began to sob, "Molly is my daughter. Her mother kicked her out of the house when she started dating Austen because he is a farmer. Austen is her lifemate. Dragons find our mates differently than you find yours. The men hunt and prepare a meal. The woman who chooses to eat that meal is their lifemate. Princesses are not supposed to attend these ceremonies, but I wanted Molly to be happy and find her lifemate. Tia wanted her to be married in an arranged marriage to the chameleon dragon's prince. I wanted Molly and Austen to live in the castle. However, since I am from a kingdom in England, my wishes were denied. Tia lets me attend to business, but she oversees everything. Now I have lost my grandson that I was forbidden ever to see."
Dylan walked over with his head bowed, "I am sorry for your loss. Are you feeling any better?"
"Besides the heartbreak, I feel stronger than I did before you arrived," King Theo answered.
Dylan smiled, "King James, would you please do us the pleasure of reading the translation?"
James looked at Dylan with a question in his eyes as he took the notepad from his advisor. James read the first line to himself and then smiled, "The Bestiary is no longer the representation of the dragon kingdom. This will be the first book of eight added to the Lupinomicon now that King James and Queen Skylar Mason have taken their rein. King Theo and Queen Tia will become the only dragon royalty throughout the world. King Theo and Queen Tia should feel the power entering into them at any given time. King Theo and Queen Tia will reside at the Royal Captial with King James and Queen Skylar when their welcoming tour is over if either King Theo or Queen Tia denies this honor. Their daughter, Molly Telanot, and her husband Austen Telanot will become the dragon kingdom's royalty. The death of their son Todd will not last more than 72 hours. He is merrily in transition to become one of their guardians. The other three guardians will be made known before the day's end. We know already know the decision that will be made. Please continue on your journey, King James and Queen Skylar."
King Theo wiped his tears, "I will get to meet my grandson and spend time with my daughter. I must tell Tia of this decision that we are to make. I know the decision has already been made, but I must talk to her." King Theo ran out of the room and up the stairs to find Tia.
Daisy peeked around the door, "That is excellent news. I will get to see my sister more often and spend time with her family. Thank you for translating the binding for us."
Skylar, James, and their party took their leave. They didn't wait around to hear the decision of who would become the royal dragon family. They left the binding behind for the dragons to treasure.
