Everyone enjoying themselves, laughing and eating basking in each other's company, Daniel was mingling with BlackDawn and the Moonfairie packs,
Alpha Zak was showing him off like a prize winning show dog.
After the sun disappeared completely leaving only pink soft clouds, the bonfire was lit and it gave everything a rosey soft glow.
Finally then after what felt like only minutes the sky was clear and the moon shone brightly overhead reflecting off all the shiny, shiny stars.
I sat down next to Mickey on a thick wool blanket he and Ethan had brought with them and happily watched him and his brother talk about some new video games they were planning on buying, but the conversation cut short when Ethan got up to grab us all drinks.
"Sam, you want a beer or a pop?" I thought for a second maybe a beer wouldn't be so bad, my brother doesn't need me tonight.
"Beers fine" Mickey responded for me.
Daniel seemed happy enough to me. I stayed far away from him just like Alpha said..
"What do you think Sammy?" Mickey's question broke me from my thoughts "About what?" I asked.
"The Moonfairie beta is terrifying isn't he?" Mickey replied
I laid back on the blanket and closed my eyes
"yeah I guess..." I trailed off remembering the scary encounter with him this morning that guy was a monster.
We laid in silence for a while just watching the moonlight move around casting odd shadows on trees and rocks.
Mickeys arm wrapped itself around my waist pulling me closer to him. I felt his chest rise and fall against mine and suddenly his breath hitched.
I shoved him back aggressively ,
"what the f**k are you doing mick!?"
"You just look so pretty," Mickey replied, trying to kiss me.
Pushing him away as hard as I could, I elbow him in the chin catching him by surprise, I scoot back off the blanket.
Stumbling as I try to stand up and find a chance to run away, what the f**k was wrong with him did he hit his damn head??!
"Sammy I'm sorry" he yelled after me,
" Come back so we can talk about it" I could hear him chasing after me as pushed past people.
spotting an opening in the group I run deeper into the throng of people knowing if I stop he's going to find me.
And it was at that moment my life would never be the same again. my foot caught on a rock causing my whole body to pitch forward slamming into someone holding a drink, the liquid flew up out of their red solo cup and crashed against me and them covering us both with sticky liquid.
A loud rumble hung in the air between us, everyone had gone quiet slowly turning towards us and a very angry Moonfairie beta I had crashed into him and spilled the drink in his hand. It was all over his face and shirt.
Gingerly gazing up at his face, my soul left my body, I grew cold and deathly pale.
He glared down at me. large veins in his neck and forehead were pulsating his face a dark angry beet red, he began to growl loudly at me "YOU! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID!!!" he was screaming loudly into my face, spit landing on my face.
I became like a deer in the headlights. I couldn't move, fear was coursing through my veins.
Just as I was about to speak my apologies he reached down and grabbed me by my hair sending a shooting pain through my body, he had lifted off the ground, kicking my feet only made it worse.
I began to sob, this how I was going to die.
The horrific man lifted me up and tossed me at a nearby tree. Slamming into it was enough to force the wind from my lungs. attempting to get up on my knees I coughed wetly on the ground I tasted the coppery tang of blood in my mouth,
He stalked towards me to continue the onslaught, slamming his massive boot into my face caused a sickening wet crunch, blood gushing out of my new re broken nose as I flew further out to the field hit the Earth with a thud, I heard a scream, "oh my god he gonna kill her!!" It was Darlene. Even as I was experiencing the final moments of my life her voice caused me to internally gag.
I wanted to beg for my life but words did not form in my broken mouth the wolf grabbed me by my hair once again tilting my face up so he could look at my face
"I'm going to rip you to shreds b***h!" growled the beta I was done for,
" STOP!!" Someone was shrieking, I was glad it wasn't Darlene.
"Please let's talk this out no need to hurt her" it was Daniel what the hell was he doing trying to come between a wolf and its prey he knew better.
The monster looked down at Daniel and growled in annoyance and rage "this b***h is dead" he screamed "I don't give a f**k about any of these stupid f*****g formalities she pissed me off so imma rip her head off." he held onto my hair tightly causing me to whimper making him turn his attention back to me again, as he slowly closed his large rough fingers around my neck, he was going to break it.
"NO!!!!!!"
"please she's my sister" Daniel strangled out a sob, it broke me in the end he was the only person who ever truly loved me.
"Alexander why don't you put the girl down its not worth war" unfamiliar voice chimed in
Suddenly I was on the ground, I tried to open my eyes just a little. I could see his boots as he walked away then I was surrounded by unfamiliar scents with gentle touches, light sweet colors flooded my vision followed by an intense darkness. It was unfair, everything was unfair.
I tried to open my eyes a little more and I felt myself being carried away
"No please" I whispered, trying to push them away but my limbs were heavy and weak.
I woke up with a pounding headache. Opening my eyes to my surroundings I found myself laying on a bed staring at the ceiling I heard a soft beeping noise I tried to turn my head when I heard someone s**t next to me.
"so your awake" I couldn't place the voice and I couldn't turn my head I realized my neck was in a brace.
"where am I" I croaked out my throat felt like it was on fire when I tried to speak.
"your at BlackDawn pack hospital" the stranger explained.
"you almost died and because your human your alpha refused to treat you, he honestly wanted to just put you down, but me and your brother came up with a compromise so now your here" what??
"I'm alpha lark by the way" said the sweet fatherly voice.
"and your safe now I have many humans in my pack so don't worry you will be welcomed by all" Alpha lark explained.
"You had some internal bleeding but our head surgeon fixed you right up you should be good as new in a few days" that was good news but what I couldn't understand was how they could just give me away. I know they didn't care for me but I was still pack.
I felt my eyes staring to fill with tears but I shouldn't feel sad that they cast me away I always knew how they felt, so why did it hurt so bad? f**k them!
Fuck everything.
Lark was right. I felt almost perfect in the span of a few days.
He took me in, it was amazing.
He introduced me to his mate in my new Luna Zoey, she fussed over me the moment she saw me,
"Lark she's mine, I'm keeping her" Zoey claimed me right then and there.
Lark gave me a job and helped me get my GED, the best part of all of it was when Dan came to visit and met Sophia his mate,
He went home and challenged Zak and won.
My life was starting to get better.
