Drake tripped on something and fell forward. As he was about to slam into the floor he tensed… and jerked awake, shooting upright in his bed. His heart was hammering and his breathing fast. He chuckled at himself and tried to take deeper, slower breaths. Once he’d eased his body down from its fight or flight response he checked the time. Damn, he’d only been asleep ten minutes. No wonder he still felt tired. He shook his head, trying to remember why he’d been running in the dream, but it was like trying to catch smoke in his hands. Whatever the dream had been it was gone now. He started to lay down again but something caught his attention. A faint sound. A voice. One which he couldn’t place but felt sure was important… and out of place. He reached over and activated the lights
