As the Dagger exited the jump Drake tensed for the jarring warning that there were ships nearby, but it didn’t come. A quiet chime indicated there were some ships well beyond weapons range, but that was it. Drake relaxed, knowing they were safe for the moment. The pirates who had been following behind wouldn’t reach the jump point for some minutes and were no real threat anyway. Drake hadn’t been that worried about any of the ships which had been shadowing the Dagger. What had really worried him was that there might have been an ambush waiting, a force the Dagger couldn’t easily deal with, especially during the disorientation after making the jump.
