The crew on shore leave weren’t happy about being called back to the ship and those still on the ship were far from pleased they wouldn’t be getting back to the station again. Drake consoled himself with the thought they’d been docked long enough for everyone to get off the ship. Even Sonia had spent a few hours drinking in a bar, though with far less excitement than he’d had.
The mood soon changed from annoyed to sombre when details of what had happened to Drake emerged. That was reinforced by the latest report from Beta leader. Several stragglers from the crew had been followed on their way back to the ship and at least one had looked in danger of being snatched until troopers from the ship arrived and intervened.
The promise of a bonus helped a little, though not a lot while the
