The comeback

After Jeff shot Amanda and killed her, Scott looked at Jeff and said, “how are you alive?” I saw you die.” He sat down and started at the beginning. He said “I did die, but after I was shot, I was taken to the hidden base in those hills we were hiking around, where I was brought back to life.” Jeff said “they have technology we only dream of. I found myself in a water hyperbaric chamber, with tubs and wires all over me. They were doing experiments on me. Whenever any Alien would come by to check on me, I would pretend to be unconscious. I just stayed in a limp position, like I was dead. I was eventually pulled out of the chamber and put on an examination table. They injected me with some kind of paralytic, so I couldn’t move or feel anything. Then they began to poke and prod me from head to toe. I knew that I had to remain completely still and pretend that I was just a shell of a body. The aliens drilled out my right eye, and put in an Alien created eye. They had replaced my heart with something else, since I was shot in the heart.”             “They injected jell into my lungs, It would have been torture, but I could not feel anything, I just knew what they were doing to me. I knew if I could make any move or a sound, I would be killed. As soon as I was left alone and was no longer paralyzed, and since they did not see the sense of strapping me down, because they thought that I was brain dead, I got up and pulled all the wires out of myself and ran away from the lab. It was a good while before any of them came back to check on me. By the time they noticed I was gone, I was already hiding near an exit gate, waiting for it to open. While I was hiding, I say Colonel Wyatt down there, and he was talking to a couple of people. He was saying that you needed to be eliminated or changed, into one of them.” Scott said to Jeff “come close so I can see your eyes.” Jeff walked over to Scott, knelt down, and looked right into his friend’s eyes. Scott said “blue, and no contacts.” Scott almost started to cry, he was so happy to see his friend, and to know that he was not alone. Jeff said “we need to take down Colonel Wyatt.”             Jeff said to Scott, “you look tired, we will start in the morning, but first we need to move Amanda’s body into the basement, just to get it out of our way.” Jeff told Scott to just sleep for the night, and he would keep watch, because he was wide awake. Whatever they did to him, made him very energetic. Jeff said “that, he was ready for payback.” Scott slept like a baby that night. It was the first time he really felt safe, in several days. Come morning, Jeff already had some breakfast made for Scott, as soon as he got up. Scott asked him “if he slept any last night,” he said, “nope and I feel great.” Jeff said that we need to have a plan of attack. Scott told him about the Detective, that he thinks has been turned and that Joe is still out there. With both of them out there, we need to watch our backs. Who knows who we can trust? Jeff said “we need to get on base, to get some help; I know who we can trust.”             As soon as Scott was ready to go, they had to make one stop first. They needed to go to Jeff’s house. Jeff needed to get his identification, so that he could get them on base. No one will think anything about me coming on base; since I was just on leave, for the week. Jeff changed into his flight suit, to make it look more indisputable. They left Scott’s car at Jeff’s house, and took Jeff’s car. Scott hid in the back of the car, in the storage trunk of his black GMC Jimmy. He drove right on base with just a wave; as it was the same security guards that have been seeing Jeff for years. Jeff drove around and parked in the parking lot of the Combat Fighter Wing, part of the Air Combat Command. Jeff had some friends there that he could trust, and that would be ready and willing to help them. As soon as he parked, Scott got out of the back trunk space. They both walked into the maintenance section of the building. That is where most of these guys hung out.             A group of fellow Airmen saw Jeff and Scott walking up. They yell out to them and said “where have you guys been, haven’t seen you in days.” They said to these guys, “we have a problem, and we need help first.” There were about ten Combat Specialist there, which would be willing to help. But first they said “we need to look into everyone’s eyes, please.” All of them lined up and they checked out all their eyes and they all passed. They started by telling the men about Colonel Wyatt, and Aliens, and how they are changing people into “Hybrids.” A few of the men said “man, your full of shit.” They told them that if anyone does not want to help they can go now; they just need to keep this a secret, because it is life and death. Four of the men stayed and finished listening to Jeff and Scott. These men just shook their heads in shock and in disbelief, but then they said “it does not surprise them.” They agreed to help Jeff and Scott out with this, even after they warned them, that it could be very dangerous.             They told the men to meet at the bar tonight, and they would discuss what help they needed in more detail. Scott and Jeff were not aware they were being followed the entire time, ever since they left Scott’s home. The Colonel was aware that they were on base, and security had been sent to find the two. One of the security guards that were friends with Jeff found them and told the two of them what was going on, and that they needed to hide from the other guards. The men in the maintenance section helped them hide from the guards, when they came around looking for them. The guard told them that if they were caught hiding them, they would be held accountable; but the men were not worried, because most of the guards were just Rent a Cops. As they were heading up to the squad room, to get into Jeff’s office, as they turned a corner, and came face to face with Joe. All three of them just stopped and starred at one another. Scott said to Joe, “I thought that you went to jail” Joe replied, “I guess you can’t trust anybody, can you.”             Joe informed them that they will not get away with anything, and that there every move was being watched. Jeff was the hot head of the two. He balled up his fist, and without Joe noticing, Jeff clocks Joe on the side of his face, and said “you didn’t see that coming did you?” Joe told Jeff that he should have stayed dead, because he is going to kill them both. The two pilots just continued to head to Jeff’s office, leaving Joe on the ground. They made it to his office. They went into the office and shut the door and locked it behind them. Scott told him to draft and announcement an official letterhead, to send to the other media outlets, to counteract the story that Colonel Wyatt created about him. Jeff drafted a long letter, with a heading of, “Alien’s In Command, Government Cover-up.” He said to Scott “this should get someone’s attention!” Jeff had dealings with the media before, since he was the spokesman for the squadron. He had a link on his computer that has every media outlet listed, and all he had to do was attach the file and click send.             As soon as he hit send, Jeff said, “well, we are all in now.” They heard commotion out in the squad room. They knew that it was Wyatt’s men, which have come for them. Jeff and Scott knew that they were going to have to fight their way through them, if they wanted to get out of there. Jeff opened up his bottom drawer and pulled out a small safe. He put in the combination and opened it up. Jeff pulled out two H&K 45’s, and handed one of them to Scott. He said try not to shoot anyone if you don’t have to. Just the fact that we have big guns pointed at them, they should just move aside. They don’t want to die anymore then we do. Jeff’s phone started to ring. It was a main news outlet in Utah. He looked down at his computer, and his email was filling up with conformations from other outlets, about the story he just sent out, and it had only been a minute. Jeff just laughed and said “Colonel Wyatt is going to be pissed.” He then said lets go, they opened up Jeff’s office door, and out came the guns. Just like he said, they just moved out of the way.             All the men outside the office moved out of the way, except two, which were in the back of the room. It was Colonel Wyatt and Joe! The Colonel said “do you know what you have done, you may have crippled our local government, and the “Naturals” may not even let you live after this. The both of you are on everyone’s cross hairs. Scott told the Colonel “he was wrong. They may have just saved it, from men like him.” Jeff said “you are the one that they are going to come after, for letting this get out.” The Colonel did not say anything to what they said to him. He stood there looking very indignant. They informed the Colonel and Joe, that they would be leaving now, and they are not to be followed. As they walked past those two, Joe blurted out, “you are both dead, watch your backs!” They exited the squad room and left the building, which seemed to be on lockdown, because of them. All of the office doors were shut, and everyone was bunkered in their rooms.             When they walked outside, there stood Detective Jones, with a few police officers. The Detective said to them, “you are both under arrest.” They said “for what?” He pulled out a paper and read it out loud. “First, murder of Amanda Wilcox, found in your basement, Scott. Second, running around a military facility threatening people with guns drawn.” So the Detective pointed his gun at them and said “drop your guns.” They both obeyed, and put their guns on the ground, because they knew that the wheels are already turning, and they would not be in jail long, if anytime at all. Outside at the corner of the building, stood one of the four men that agreed to help them. One of them was recording the entire thing on video. Jeff looked over at him and he gave Jeff a thumbs up. He knew what to do, since he also received the mass email that was sent to all the media outlets, and he would send them this video as well.                 The police officers walked up the Jeff and Scott, with guns drawn. They grabbed them and thrusted them to the ground, where they put hand cuffs on them both. They were searched completely and had all there belonging taken from them. They were then rushed to the police cars, and put into separate cars. Jeff and Scott did not know what to expect once they got to the police station. The drive there was a long drive. It gave them time to think, about what their next move was. When they pulled up to the police station, the media outlets were going crazy all around the station, just for Jeff and Scott. It took them several minutes extra to get past the media barricades. They drove down to the underground parking and processing, where they unloaded Jeff and Scott. They took them inside a set of double doors, and stood them in front of a window with a hole in it for the officer on the other side to give orders.             They stood in front of the window obeying the orders of the officers on the other side. They were told to take off their shoes, belts, and jewelry, and anything that they had left on them, from their belongings, which have not already been taken from them. They were then told to go have a seat on the bench against the wall, where there handcuffs were attached to the bar on the wall. After several minutes they were taken to separate rooms where they were told to remove all their clothes, then they were searched from head to toe, and given an orange jump suit to put on. Jeff and Scott met back up at the processing desk, where they were fingerprinted and read there charges. Once they were done with processing, they were told that they each had one phone call. They knew that one thing that they had to make sure to happen was a full autopsy on Amanda, because if they could prove that she was not human, that would be another point for them.             Jeff called one of the four men that agreed to help. He gave them a list of things to do, including seeing the coroner at the morgue. They need to get an official report saying she was not human. The Detective had forgotten about the body at the morgue that the coroner already had, that was made out to be Joe, but was not. By the time they were put into their holding cells, they were all over the news, and listed as “hero whistle blowers.” The media had started such frenzy, that regular civilians started to line up at the police station, protesting to let these men go. The FBI came to assist in this matter, and the agent in charge was secretly a conspiracy theory nut on the side. This was not something that Detective Jones wanted. He did not want outside agency’s investigating. As soon as Agent Brown showed up, he wanted to speak with, Jeff and Scott, since this was making international news.             Detective Jones was protesting to his Captain, that this was his investigation, not the FBI’s and that he did not want them there intruding. Agent Brown said “since this investigation has crossed over from civilian to military, and accusations of government involvement, this is my jurisdiction.” So he said again “I would like to speak with Jeff and Scott, now.” The Colonel was trying to put out smear campaigns against Captain Jeff Johnson and Captain Scott Ryan. His campaign was alleging that they both were suffering from a form of PTSD. But the information that was sent out in a mass email, gave the media places to start their own investigations. Agent Brown met with Jeff first. Jeff told him about being shot in the chest, just last week, and he showed him his scar, which was almost all the way healed. Then he told the Agent about the experiments that they had done on him, in the secret underground facility. Then he was informed about Colonel Wyatt.             The FBI agent was taking copious notes with his talk with Jeff. He had all the W’s marked off and then some. He then wanted to talk to Scott. They brought Scott into the room and Agent Brown had some questions first. They were questions confirming what Jeff had told him. He was just checking to see if they were all on the same page. He then told Scott to start at the beginning, so he started with the sighting the night on April 17th. Then moved on to Colonel Wyatt and the suspension. Then, meeting Amanda, who turned out to be a “Hybrid” Alien. And then Joe and Brian, and how Brian was found murdered. He told the Agent everything from the beginning to the point they brought him into see the FBI agent. Agent Brown had an abundant amount of notes. Scott made sure to tell him that they really needed to do a very detailed autopsy on Amanda; especially look at her eyes, since she had been changed, and that would have changed her DNA as well. He also informed the agent that Joe and the Detective had been turned, into “Hybrids,” so watch out for them.             Agent Brown called for the guard and had them bring in Jeff, so that he could talk to both of them at the same time. Jeff was brought in and he sat next to Scott. Agent Brown said that he believed the two of them, and that he had been investigating strange sightings for years. He knew that they had to be involved with some sort of our own government, to stay hidden for so long. Detective Jones was already trying to block the autopsy of Amanda. He said that it was an open and shut case. She had no family, so he wanted the body cremated right away. No one else knew about what he was trying to do with Amanda’s body. He was threatening the coroner, if he did not do it right as soon as he got her body at the morgue. He knew that he had a job to do, but he was very afraid of what Detective Jones would do to him and his family, if he did not fulfill what he was being told to do.             The coroner felt that he was in the middle of a jurisdictional war. He had the Detective ordering him to dispose of the body by cremation, and then he had the Airforce telling him to do an autopsy on the body, because she was not human. Agent Brown had no clue that one of his biggest indications of Alien “Hybrids” was about to be destroyed. Agent Brown said that “he knows of a good lawyer for just these events, and he would call him.” As the guards came for Jeff and Scott to take them back to their cells, Scott said with some importance “get Amanda’s body to the coroner, for an autopsy.” As he was leaving the police station, Detective Jones, said, “good luck with your investigation,” as he walked right by him. When he left the building, he called his office, to get the number for the County Coroner, to see if they had the body of Amanda. He called the Coroner and Steve answered the phone, he identified himself as the lead investigator of this investigation involving Amanda Wilcox, which was her real name.             Steve said to the Agent “you and everyone else.” Agent Brown said “what do you mean!” Steve informed him about the orders from several departments, including Detective Jones. So the Agent asked “do you have the body?” “yes, but I have orders from Detective Jones to cremate the body as soon as I can, and that the furnace is about heated up all the way.” Agent Brown said with urgency “don’t you dare destroy that body; you are to do an autopsy, I have jurisdiction over all this.” The coroner said “that he had to, or else,” the Agent was confused and said “or else what?” He could not tell the Agent, or something bad would happen, to him or his family. The Agent said “I will be there in fifteen minutes. Do nothing until I get there.” He agreed that he would only wait the fifteen minutes, and then he would do what he had to. Before he hung up the phone, the other line was ringing, and it was Detective Jones, asking him “if it had been taken care of,” he told the Detective that, “the furnace was still heating up, and that it had fifteen minutes to go.” He told the coroner “great, I am on my way!”             The coroner was in a panic, he did not know what to do at this point. Either go to jail for destroying evidence, or having my family or myself killed. He was pacing back and forth in the autopsy room where Amanda’s body waited. The furnace alarm was about to go off, letting him know that it was up to temperature for cremation. Neither the FBI Agent nor the Detective knew that one another were heading to the morgue at the same time, and they both had different orders for the coroner. He knew that this was not going to end well for anyone who was at the morgue. He looked at the clock and it had been only seven minutes, and then he looked at the furnace and the timer said four minutes, so he had eight minutes before all hell broke loose at the morgue. The coroner was afraid and wanted to hide himself in the freezer until this conflict between the FBI and the Detective was over. He was in the morgue all by himself, so he had a plan. He would wheel Amanda’s body over to the furnace and station it there ready to cremate. Then he would wait and see who got there first, if it was the FBI, he would quickly lock the door and ask for protection; and if it was the Detective, he would do the same thing. He did not feel good about either one of the choices. He knew that after today, he might not be the county coroner any longer, because he would be dead or in jail. He looked at the clock and he had six minutes to go, and two minute before the furnace alarm goes off. He found himself still pacing back and forth. He was sweating like he had just run a marathon. He was not as much scared for himself as he was for his family. He looked back at the clock as the furnace alarm went off. He had four minutes before someone should get here. He stood in the middle of the morgue having a panic attack, watching the clock countdown; and before he realized it, time was up. Then the door opened.
