Aftermath

Scott decided that he needed to get an alarm on his house, just for an added layer of protection. He scheduled and arranged a time for it to be installed, which was within two days, and could not get it any sooner. Scott did not know that the detective also put Scott’s home on surveillance, just in case Joe or Amanda decided to show up, or anyone else for that matter. Scott felt that everything was crumbling down around him, and it was all because he could not ignore what he saw. He also felt that maybe Colonel Wyatt may have some involvement in this, so he called the detective and gave him the Colonel’s information and told him about his encounter with Colonel Wyatt. Detective Smith said that he would look into him as well.        The week after the weekend campout, things seemed to be very hectic, with the police and their investigation. They were still unable to locate Joe or Amanda; and they were still looking in the hills of the west desert for Jeff’s body. The blood that was found in the area was determined to be human, so they knew that someone had been hurt. Scott had been to the police station several times for more questioning, but he could not provide anything new to the investigation. Colonel Wyatt’s office had been contacted about the events; but, as of yet, they were unable to reach the Colonel. Behind the closed doors at the Intelligence Command, where Colonel Wyatt resided, he had been in contact with unknown personnel about what was going on. The two men in black suits, which usually sat in the back corner of the Colonel’s office, were heavily involved in the matter. As soon as he was done with the phone call, he turned to the mysterious men and said “this is getting out of hand, it needs to be finished.” The two men in black suits never talked, they were like the perfect soldier, and just obeyed.             The men in black suits were a new type a “Hybrid.” They were born human, but then when they were still babies changed into “Hybrids,” being turned into the perfect Soldier. The Colonel was connected to the adoption agencies. He was the one that arranged for the newly “Created” babies to be put into the adoption process and then lost in the shuffle. But the two men in suits that worked for the Colonel had been with him almost since they were born, so they were very loyal to the Colonel, and would do whatever he asked.                These men were always around the Colonel, like they were his personal hit men that just took care of business. Detective Smith was finally able to get permission to get onto base and go to the main offices of the Intelligence Command Building. The Detective was there to see Colonel Wyatt. He was told that the Colonel was unavailable; but the detective was not going to leave without seeing him. The Detective had a friend in the Governor’s office. He asked for some help with getting in touch with Colonel Wyatt. He waited for around forty-five minutes and then was told by the receptionist that Colonel Wyatt would see him now. The Detective was not directed to the secret office deep underground, he was taken to a plush corner office in the main hallway. He got to the office and knocked on the door. The Colonel looked up at him; but he did not say anything for several seconds, and then said “come have a seat,” like he was one of his minion soldiers. Detective Smith knew right away that the Colonel was not going to be intimidated or squeezed for information. He needed to be smart about this visit, because he might not get another one.              The first thing he asked the Colonel was, if he knew Joe or Amanda. The Colonel said “are they one of my Airmen,” and the Detective said “I am not sure, I don’t think so.” The Colonel was very impatient with him and said “I have many men under my command; you need to be very specific.” So Detective Smith thinks for a minute, and was just looking at the Colonel, then he said how about Captain Jeff Johnson? He waited for some kind of response from the Colonel, basically to see who flinched first. Colonel Wyatt said “yes I know the Captain, what are you asking?” Detective Smith said, “he may be dead,” and then the Colonel said “you need to get your facts straight, he is out flying a mission right now.” The Detective kind of choked a little bit and stuttered a little, and said “flying a mission right now, are you sure?” The Colonel was very stern and replied “of course I am sure.” He asked if there was a time to talk to Captain Johnson; however, the reply was “he is flying missions all day and then he is off to Nevada, for training.” He felt like he was getting a red taped wall put up in front of him. He was getting nowhere. He thanked the Colonel for his time and walked out of the office.             After the Detective left the Colonel’s office, the Colonel called in his two loyal legionnaires. He filled them in about the visit he had with the Detective. And there were a lot of questions about Joe and Amanda’s ware a bouts. He told them that Amanda is becoming problematic for their cause. She needs to be disposed of, but it cannot lead back to them.                Detective Smith’s gut was telling him that the arrogant Colonel Wyatt knew something, and just felt that the Colonel thought that he was the law and was not going to be pushed by the Detective. There were dead ends at all avenues, and the stakeouts were producing nothing. He then got a call from the coroner, who told him that he had a clue for the Detective to follow up with. He told the Detective that a hand print has emerged on Brian’s face; which was over his mouth and nose. The print distinctly shows a ring was worn by the assailant, and it was a ring with a pattern of nuggets. The Detective thought back when he was first talking to Joe, and he wore a gold nugget ring on his right hand. He thought “finally a break,” this was enough for the courts to issue an arrest warrant for Joe. Joe’s picture and information was being sent out on all outlets. He was wanted for murder, and for some reason, he did not believe the Colonel, so possibly even foul play of Jeff, until the evidence shows otherwise.             Scott got a call from Amanda. He is shocked to hear from her, after finding out that she was a fake, and her apartment has been cleaned out. She told him that they need to meet, because they are both in danger. Scott confronted her about what he saw the night she snuck off and met with Joe, standing in front of an underground bunker. She acknowledged everything, and said “things have changed.” “She actually needed his help.” So she is going to help him, so he is willing to help her. Scott was very skeptical of this entire thing, and felt like it could be some kind of setup. So he voiced his concerns to her and she validated them, and said “she does not blame him for feeling like that.” Against his better judgement, Scott agreed to meet with her. He told her about the park where he had met Joe and Brian at, and that he would be there in an hour. Scott grabbed his voice recorder and his gun that he tucked in the waistband of his pants, and then headed off to the park. He got to the park and noticed her sitting on the bench. Scott carefully walked over to her, observing his surroundings, because he did not trust her, or what her motives were.             The closer he got to her, the more he anticipated things going south. Scott got to the bench and sat down at the opposite end as her. He said “what do you want?” She said “your help.” He thought to himself, why someone with her capabilities and connections would need his help. She stated that who she works for, has labeled her as a liability and are going to use her as a scapegoat. They are going to use her as the ringleader of this entire conspiracy. Scott did not understand everything she was saying. He told her to start at the beginning. She stated that she was recruited by Colonel Wyatt, as an information collector; basically aggressive interrogations. She told Scott what that meant, and that she had turned Joe into a “hybrid” human, and that she was just human. Scott said “how do I know you are telling me the truth?” She said “that the hybrids have a unique eye structure.” That if you look directly into their eyes, the color is hazel, but the green in the hazel has a distinct wave pattern, like an ocean wave; but you need to look very close to see the pattern.             She opened up a file and showed him pictures of the eyes of people that she has changed, including Joe. Then she said “look into my eyes,” they were hazel, but they were natural, with no wave pattern. The individuals that employed her are setting her up, as a domestic terrorist, because she knows everything. Like all their plans, underground base locations, and high level people that are in charge that have been changed. They are blaming her for inciting, conspiracies. They want any eyes that might be on them, to now be on her. Scott had many questions. He asked if Joe killed Brian, she said “yes.” Did he shoot Jeff, she said “yes.” Then she said that Joe has replaced her, in the information gathering and clean-up. Scott asked about Jeff’s body. She honestly did not know. She had never met him before the camp out. She said that she had no place to go, because they have frozen all her accounts, including bank and credit cards. They are the ones that cleaned out her apartment all in one night.             Amanda asked Scott if she could stay at his house for a little bit, until she could figure things out. Scott was very reluctant to let her stay at his house, but his gut was telling him to trust her. He said “yes, but she had to be upfront about everything,” so she agreed. They got into his rental car, since his car was basically ruined. They headed back to his place. On the drive there, she broke down and cried. She said “she is usually the one making people cry.” She was feeling so alone and discarded. She had no family, she was an orphan as well as Scott, and she had no friends. Her job description for the last five years, made sure of that. By now, the Detective had decided that Scott was not a suspect and had pulled the surveillance off of Scott’s home; but Amanda was still wanted for questioning. Scott said that tomorrow he would call the Detective, and arrange for her to be questioned, since she was not wanted for murder; Joe was. As soon as they got to his house, she walked around and picked up a few random items around the house, and without saying anything pulled out listening devices and one surveillance camera. Scott was completely and utterly shocked; he asked “how did you know about these things.” She said “I put them there.”             He was starting to believe her a little more now, since she disposed of all the surveillance equipment. She told him that she had been so stressed out the last few days, that she had not slept at all, and that she was tired. Scott walked her to the spare bedroom, and as she walked it, she stopped and looked at him and said, “thank you, I know you are taking a big risk helping me out like this.” They said their goodnights and she laid down on the bed, before Scott closed the door. Scott said, “I am right next door if you need anything.” She stayed in bed the entire night, but for the first while, she just laid there, staring at the ceiling. She felt odd; no one had really helped her or been genially nice to her before, without wanting something in return. Scott did not go to bed right away. He felt that he needed a glass of whiskey. He felt that he deserved it, to calm his nerves. While he was sipping his drink, he received a text message from an unknown number, and it said, “Put a bullet in her head, and walk away, and we will not pursue you any longer.”             Scott was not a killer, so he was not going to follow the directions on the text message. Besides, he wanted to know the truth, and expose it. Scott wondered how they knew that she was with him at his house. He instantly became hyper sensitive to any small sound he heard in the house. Every creak in the floor, Amanda moving around on the bed, and wind blowing, made him on edge. He sat in his chair, in the living room, sipping his whiskey until around midnight, and then he went to his room and shut the door. He got undressed and got into bed. He put his gun on the night stand next to the bed. Suddenly his door slowly opens and it is Amanda. He asked her if everything was okay, and she said “everything is fine.” She then crawls into bed with him and seduced him. She was in his room the rest of the night. The Detective had not called it a night yet. He was still following up on leads, and sightings of Joe. He received a call that Joe was just seen at a liquor store, a mile from his house; but, as soon as he got there, he was gone. He asked the manager to show him the video surveillance that they have in the store. The manager complied and showed it to the Detective.             The video that the Detective was looking at definitely showed Joe in the video. The parking lot video showed him leaving in a black sport utility vehicle, with government plates, heading south on main street. He thought to himself “why the hell is he driving a government vehicle?” He was able to get a plate number off the surveillance video. He called it in to see what entity it was registered to. After a few minutes he got the information back, and all it said was, United States Military. The rest of the information on the vehicle had been redacted, for unknown reasons. Another dead end he thought, then he blurted out loud, “s**t, they are GPS tracked.” He contacted the local FBI dispatch office and asked them to track this vehicles location. They told him they could not do that for outside departments without a court order. He called and woke up the District Attorney, who woke up a Judge, who signed the order, since they had video of the fugitive driving this car.             Detective Smith re-contacted the FBI office, with a signed court order in hand. So they were now able to assist in the location of this SUV. They were able to get the location and track the vehicle. Unknown to them, as soon as the plate number and tracking device, was entered into their computer system, Colonel Wyatt was immediately informed, and then his men in black suits, quickly walked out of the room. Detective Smith and other agencies joined in on the pursuit of Joe and this vehicle. A total of 15 cars, some undercover, went racing towards Joe’s location. It was parked in the parking lot of the park, that Joe had first met Captain Ryan. The officers in all these cars rushed towards the vehicle, surrounding it, so it had no avenue to escape. But with tinted windows, they had no idea, who was all in the car. The men got out of their cars with guns drawn, yelling “get out of the car, with your hands up.” There was no movement, so they repeated what they said, moving a little closer to the vehicle. Still no response and they could not see in the car windows yet: everything was to dark.             A member of the Detectives team, slowly moved up to the driver’s side window, and smashed it with a window popper. The window shattered, and men came running towards the car door with no window. There was no one in the driver’s seat, and as they quickly got all the other doors opened, they noticed that the vehicle was completely empty. All the men quickly scattered throughout the park and searched every corner of it. They found no one except a couple of kids out drinking beers, who they took into custody for questioning, to check to see if they saw anyone vacate the black government SUV. The two teenagers they found did have helpful information. They saw the first SUV, squeal into the park with another one right behind it. Two men in suits jump out and grab the first guy and throw him in there vehicle. Then they squealed right back out of the parking lot. They did not see what direction the other car took off to. The information was helpful, but another dead-end.             The two men that grabbed Joe were the Colonel’s henchmen. They took Joe to see the Colonel, who was not happy with Joe being that careless. He told Joe that he could not afford to get caught, because he knew too much now. That is why Amanda is such an endangerment to their plans; she knows everything. Then Joe was told that if he ever put them in that situation again, they would just dispose of him, instead of saving him. Joe was told to go to a safe house, which only the Colonel knew the location of. He was informed that he could never go back to his house, again, and as far as the world knows, Joe is dead. The Colonel told his men in black, to take care of his death. The men got a body that relatively looked like Joe. They dressed the body in Joe’s clothes and gave him all Joe’s identification. They took Joe’s car and put the body into it, and shot it in the head, execution style. They left the car with the dead Joe look alike, someplace that it would be found within 12 hours.             The enigmatic men prepared Joe, with his new identity, with his fingerprints being burnt off, hair color change and beard. Joe was a new man, with new identification, and Detective Smith had no idea that the Colonel was protecting him to this extent. Colonel Wyatt gave Joe a new mission, and it was to find Scott and Amanda and kill them, without getting caught.
