That morning Scott woke up and seemed very positive and energetic, and he was ready to get going for the day. He wanted to just do research for the day. Scott found information on the internet, that there are over 100,000 documented results, which cover UFO sightings. This made Scott very disturbed that there is so much documented information about UFO’s and Aliens. Utah is a hot spot, of sightings, all across the state. The more Scott searched the more he became actually frightened that if even a small percent was true, that leaves a lot of truth out there, and that the government is just covering it up. So the question is this, is our government involved or have Aliens infiltrated our government leaders? Either way, Scott felt obligated to shed light on the issue. Scott spent the good part of the morning searching reports, and sifting through pages and filtering out the ones that are just too far out there to be true. After he read a credible report, he would plot the sighting location on a map. The map was getting very full, and it was showing him other places that could be UFO hive hideouts.
Scott got a call from Amanda. She was just checking in to see if the camp out was still happening. He informed her that everything was still a go for this weekend and that one of his Airforce buddies was going with them. As soon as she heard that, she said “oh, I thought it was just the two of us.” Scott told her that originally it was just going to be the two of them. But his friend was also one of the pilots that can verify what he saw, because he saw it also. Amanda sounded like she was not happy about it at first, and then she said “I guess it will be fine if he comes along.” She did not have much time to talk. She was reminding him that she didn’t have any camping gear, so he would need to cover her on that. Although she offered to bring as much food as they needed. She just needed to know how much. Scott told her “it will be three of us, for the weekend.” Amanda told him “she would take care of it,” and then she had to get back to work.
Scott kept getting a call from Joe, but he was not taking any calls from him at that moment. He felt that Joe wanted him to just go in circles and waist his time, so that he would give up. Scott did try to call Brian, but he kept getting his voice mail. Scott found that kind of strange, since this is what Joe and Brian lived for. But he had no idea that Brian was dead, and that he would not be returning his calls. After around ten tries to call Brian, he started to get a message that the phone had been disconnected. Now he was getting really concerned that something may have happened to him. He wondered if just by getting the two of them involved, he had put them both in harm’s way. Scott, after many phone calls from Joe, decided to answer his call. Joe was wondering about his camp out, but Scott did not remember telling him about the planned trip. Then he remembered talking about the camp site that he found, that they were going to use.
He told Joe that he was leaving tomorrow with Amanda and a friend from the Military. He then asked Joe if he had heard anything from Brian, because he was trying to contact him, but when he calls him, he gets a message that says the number has been disconnected. Joe said that he and Brian had a falling out and that Brian left. He told Joe that he was going to get a new number, so he could not call him. Scott found that doing that, spur of the moment was such a rash decision, for anyone. He thought that there was part of the story he was not getting. He tried to press Joe a little harder, with some interrogation tricks that he had learned in the military. But he kept hitting a brick wall. And Joe’s reaction, after losing his best friend of many years, had just up and left him, with no way of contacting him, seemed out of place. But Scott had barley known them for a week; still none of this was sitting well in his gut. He figured that it really was not his business, so he stopped pushing the issue.
When he finished his call with Joe, it ended with Joe checking to see if he could go with them on the trip. Scott just said “I will think about it, and let you know.” Scott seemed to be a very popular person with phone calls this morning. After Joe’s call he got a call, from Jeff, wondering what time he wanted him to come by in the morning. Scott told him “1000 hours works,” and that was the end of that call. This day was just a planning and relaxation day, before the weekend trip. Scott was watching some news on the TV, and they were talking about a body found, on the pony express trail. They said that his name was Brian Gallagher. He did not know what Brian’s last name was, so he thought nothing of it, until they showed a picture of him on the news. Scott just about choked on his drink, when he saw Brian’s photo on TV. He now thought that something smelled rotten, and he thought of Joe. Scott contacted the police and told them, that he had known Brian, for almost a week, he had been trying to get hold of him. He told them that his phone has even been disconnected. He even told them about Joe’s odd behavior.
The police contacted Joe and questioned him about Brian’s disappearance, and when he saw him last. Joe said “it had only been one night since he had seen him.” Joe told the police “Brian stormed out of the house last night, which was the last he saw or heard from him.” They questioned him for a little bit longer, and then they got a court order to search his house and Brian’s room for some kind of clue. Joe’s house was searched and they did not find any clue to foul play, but what they found strange, is that if Brian was going to leave for good, he would have taken, at least some of his belongings with him, but he took nothing. Joe could not explain that at all. The police found Joe’s actions and behavior very odd as well. Especially since they had been friends for over 25 years. Joe did not grasp, that he was the prime suspect, right at that moment. The police told Joe not to go out of town, just in case they had any other questions. Joe told them that he was going camping this weekend, with some friends, out in the west desert. The detective said “that is funny, that is where his body was found,” Joe just played out, like he had no idea about what had really happened.
The police Detective that was investigating the murder of Brian felt that Joe was hiding something about Brian’s death. He questioned Joe more on the location where he was going camping. Joe just told him it is in the west desert, along the Mormon Pioneer Trail. The Detective did not say anything to the location he was going camping at, because that area is just fifteen miles from where Brian’s body was found. He also thought that the body had been staged so that it would be found, maybe to put the blame onto someone else, and not Joe.
Joe told them that he was going camping, but Scott had no idea. Joe knew the area that Scott found and was going to use. He was going to go up with or without them; but probably without. Joe knew that he had a job to do, and he was going to see it through. Joe contacted the Colonel and told him that he was probably under investigation for Brian. He was looking for advice, since up to this point, Joe had shown no emotion, for Brian’s death. The Colonel said not to worry and to just continue on as planned. Back at Scott’s house, he was pulling out all his camping equipment, and going through it, to make sure it was all in good condition and that everyone could have their own tent. Scott finished going through all the gear by midafternoon. He kept it in his living room, so that they could just grab it and go, as soon as they were ready to go tomorrow afternoon. Jeff was getting excited to go on a trip with his buddy, since he had not taken any leave for almost nine months, and he was ready to get going on this trip. His leave was for one week, and was last minute, but it was approved; authority signature, Colonel James R Wyatt.
Scott spent the rest of the day, reading reports and looking for trails in the area that might be good to investigate. Everything that he had to get done that day was finished. Amanda went shopping that afternoon for plenty of food for the three of them, for two and a half days. She called Scott and told him that she had gotten a new car, and she was very happy about it. Amanda asked if she could come over and see him. She wanted to show Scott her new car. She also had other plans for her and Scott that night. Scott said that it would be fine to just come on by. She said that she would be there within two hours.
Then just after that call, there was a knock at the door, it was Jeff. He had a bottle of Jack, and was ready to start his long weekend. Scott looked at him, smiled and said “come on in!” He was glad that both Jeff and Amanda were going to meet, before they left on the trip tomorrow. Amanda showed up about an hour later and he introduced the two of them to each other. She seemed kind surprised that Scott was not alone. That is not what she was expecting. But Amanda quickly got over her astonished look that she had on her face, and became good with Jeff being there. They all sat at the kitchen table drinking shots of Whiskey. They were all laughing and having fun that night, Amanda informed them both that she had gotten Friday off work, so they could leave anytime they wanted. Jeff lifted up his shot glass and said “I will drink to that” and they all followed suit and took another shot.
