CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
Megan recovered remarkably quickly.
They were on the terrace eating breakfast together when Justin suggested Trudy take some time off.
She stared at him, “Excuse me?”
“You can stay here and relax,” he said. “You’ve had a tough few days.”
She was taken a little by surprise.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course. Why not? You know, share the burden of responsibility. I’m a grown-up to you know.”
“Well, yes, I know. If you’re sure?”
“Of course I’m sure,” he said, choosing to ignore her concerned expression. “I’ll take her for a wander. ” He turned to Megan.
“It’ll be fun, won’t it?”
“Will there be tortoises?” she asked.
“Yes, I expect so.”
“I wanna go with him,” Megan declared.
