CHAPTER TWELVE Salim bumped their suitcase along uneven paving slabs, then bounced it across cobbles before hitting a dirt track, where it was mostly being dragged. Trudy watched horrified at the rough treatment of her precious possessions. Justin didn’t notice. Salim set a healthy pace. There was no time for taking in the surroundings. Hell, there was no time to even look at the person next to you, it seemed. Justin didn’t care. He squeezed her hand. ‘I knew she loved me,’ he felt giddy with joy. ‘This is the real thing,’ he told himself happily. They followed Salim through one narrow street after another.
