Roman My head spun to Jasmine, sure I’d misheard. “You made me breakfast?” I looked at the pair of omelettes and the third cooking. She hummed. “This last one’s nearly done, so take a seat. And don’t forget your tea. It’s one of Dove’s, so be sure to sip it.” I did as she said, watching her over the breakfast bar. This all felt so… normal, so domestic. It couldn’t be more alien to me yet, somehow, right at the same time. Something had shifted between us – something that had my body and soul jumping around her. It was in everything she did: how the light caught her curls, how her smile lit up her face, how her luminous eyes beyond anything natural bored into my flesh. A freshly split piece of turquoise couldn’t hold as much colour as her eyes, and they left me paralysed on the spot. W
