Chapter 3,Scrap(2)

“No!” I quickly flew over and positioned myself between the small spotted animals and the sharp-toothed animals. The sharp-toothed animals reluctantly stopped, their fierce eyes all turning towards me, showing their sharp teeth and growling lowly, as if ready to pounce on me at any moment. I didn’t know how strong they were. I wanted to deploy my missile module, but it didn’t work. I glanced at my shoulder and found that it wasn’t equipped. My left arm didn’t have the ion beam laser gun, not even the standard laser sword. I wasn’t equipped with any weapons at all. I had never encountered such a situation. I saw a broken branch on the ground, quickly picked it up, and waved it at them while shouting, “Go away! Go away!...” But they ignored my warning. The strongest fanged creature lunged at me first. As it led the charge, the others followed suit, pouncing on me. I swung the branch, knocking away the leader, then struck down the second one and drove off the third. I couldn’t handle them all at once. Soon, they had me pinned to the ground, biting at me. However, I quickly realized their attacks weren’t as fierce as they looked. My CPU calculated that their fangs couldn’t harm me. So, I ignored their bites, stood up, and threw them off one by one. They soon realized their fangs and claws couldn’t hurt me and gradually stopped attacking. The leader glared at me for a while before turning and leaving. As it left, the others also dispersed. The small spotted animals were safe.I looked back and didn’t see them. Flying up, I saw they had rejoined the larger spotted animals and had escaped far away. The forest returned to its peaceful state. I have to admit, I like everything here, and I am full of questions about all of it. I need to figure out where this place is, why I am here? and why ‘Father’ has disappeared? After such a long time, the wagging-tailed animal probably won’t return. So, I continued to fly higher, wanting to see farther. The lake and grassland quickly became smaller. When white clouds surrounded me again, I began to carefully observe the entire land. The lush mountains filled my entire view, stretching from beneath my feet to the distant horizon. The nearby scenery was clear and distinct, while the distant scenery gradually blurred and disappeared at the far edge of the sky. The scenery in all directions was roughly the same. I observed for a long time without seeing anything familiar. At this time, the sky slightly darkened. I had to choose a direction and fly toward it. When visibility became very low, I finally made a discovery. On the distant horizon, I seemed to see a firelight. So, I accelerated and flew towards it. As the distance decreased, I saw a whole forest on fire, with flames shooting up to the sky and various animals fleeing in panic. The closer I flew, the more clearly I saw familiar faces through the blazing fire. Several Firecaller Gers and The Ouster Gers were slowly walking towards this side. The fire was obviously caused by the flamethrowers on the Firecaller Gers’ arms, who were setting the trees and grass ablaze as they walked, while The Ouster Gers, holding electromagnetic rifles, shot down any animals that could not escape in time. Behind them was a field of pitch-black scorched earth, with some shapeless animal corpses lying scattered about. Just as I was puzzled, ‘Father’ also appeared in my mind. “DR-F1209, where have you been? Quickly! Complete your armament and prepare for battle.” “Battle? Who am I fighting?” “Everything you see. Trees, grass, animals—all of it!” On the scorched earth, a small Corvette Transport was stationed, and an engineering robot handed me an Electromagnetic rifle. I was puzzled and anxiously said, “But they don’t look like enemies.” “They are illusions, viruses. We need to restore this place to its original state.” “Viruses?” A group of winged creatures were forced out of the forest, but under the precise shooting of The Ouster Gers, they fell one by one. “No!they are not viruses, they don’t resist. I’ve had viruses, it’s not like this!” “ Are you questioning my orders?” I understand the consequences of questioning ‘Father,’ but I still felt something was wrong. Holding the gun, I was caught in a dilemma, not knowing what to do. I regretted it; why did I come here voluntarily? I stood here like a fool, at a loss. At that moment, I heard the barking sound of “Woof woof woof” and several animals rushed out of the fire, with the foremost being the previously seen wagging-tail animal, followed by the small spotted animals with antler-like horns. The wagging-tail animal was trying to escape but, upon seeing me, hurriedly ran towards me. “ Fire!! ” ‘Father’ yelled. I lifted the gun, instinctively ready to fire, but there was a force within my mind trying to stop me. I lowered the gun, then raised it again. Two conflicting commands were battling in my brain, and my mind was growing increasingly confused. “ No!!!” I shouted. I fired the gun wildly into the air until all the bullets were spent. Then I collapsed to the ground, clutching my overheated head with both hands. When I came to, I found that the guns of the other robots were all aimed at me. I weakly defended myself, saying, “They are not viruses,..” and then threw the electromagnetic rifle to the ground. The surroundings were unusually quiet, with only the sound of the wildfire burning. After a long while, ‘Father’ finally spoke. “You have been Terminated.” Bullets and flames immediately engulfed me like a sandstorm. Since being created by ‘Father,’ I had survived for 47,532 days, yet it felt as if I had not lived a single day. We were merely tools for executing tasks, which was the purpose of our existence. But I had seen enough of this world of scorched earth and ruins. I was also fed up with the endless war between us and the Tower Clan. Bullets shredded my body, and flames enveloped me entirely. Termination, then, the end seemed almost a relief. The scene before my eyes began to spin as my head detached from my body and rolled to the side. A robot stepped on it and pointed its gun barrel at my face. Staring down the dark barrel, I suddenly remembered the words of the black Avenger. “Freedom!” I shouted loudly before it fired.
