Chapter 1,Awaken(2)

The green was gone. These plants, I didn’t know when, had all withered away. The crater had turned into a desolate landscape of withered yellow. I gently touched a leaf, and it immediately snapped off, turning to dust. I felt a profound sense of loss and wanted to do something for them, but I knew all too well that it was already too late for any action to make a difference.Even if it weren’t too late, what else do I know besides fighting? I stood there in the crater, lost in thought for a moment, before reluctantly rising to my feet and preparing to leave. But just then, I noticed what seemed to be footprints in a corner. As I approached for a closer look, the tracks were chaotic and unrecognizable, making it impossible to discern what had made them. However, it was evident that something had entered.Immediately, I flew out of the crater and hovered between three stone pillars, using multiple detection modes to scan the surrounding ground. Shortly after, I discovered more unusual phenomena on the ground not far away. Those appeared to be two parallel indentations, likely caused by some sort of wheels. The indentations were very faint and intermittent, making them difficult to notice from a slightly further distance. The indentation appeared at the base of one of the giant stone pillars, running east to west. The indentations appeared at the base of one of the giant stone pillars, running in an east-west direction. To the east of the Blackstone Wasteland lies the Silent Plains, a territory contested between us and the Tower Clan.To the west lies the Sunset Mountains, the rear stronghold of our Plandorian Clan tribe. The thought of an enemy infiltration sent my senses on high alert. Instinctively, I followed the indentations westward in pursuit. As I tracked for some distance, I realized it was not an easy task. The indentations appeared and disappeared intermittently, making them extremely difficult to discern, until they vanished altogether, leaving no trace behind. Such occurrences were not uncommon in the Blackstone Wasteland, where the wind and sand were capricious and unpredictable. I immediately relayed the situation to ‘Father’. Due to the unrepaired base station, the connection with ‘Father’ was not very smooth, and it took me some effort to establish a stable link. Based on the route I had tracked, it calculated several possible coordinates and marked them on the shared map. I randomly selected one of the marked locations and flew towards it. Meanwhile, this incident had also caught its attention, prompting it to summon other patrol members to join in tracking these coordinates. I found nothing at this particular coordinate and immediately proceeded to the next one. Upon arriving at the third marked location, the indentations reappeared, this time much clearer. Following the indentations, I quickly caught up with my target. It was a subtle disturbance in the air, easily overlooked if I hadn’t been tracking the indentations. It must be some advanced cloaking device. As I continued to close in, switching between various detection modes, I still couldn’t determine exactly what it was. But I was certain that something was enclosed within that swirl of air, for it was still advancing slowly, leaving behind two faint trails. ‘Father’ saw the suspicious air disturbance through my eyes.Based on its size and the indentations, it estimated several possible ground-based units from the Tower Clan, but none of them accurately matched. It seemed equally perplexed. It ordered me to remain hidden until the other team members arrived and updated the exact coordinates to six robots that were swiftly flying towards the location. The other patrol team members consist of two The Ouster Gers, two Flamecallers, and two Day Punisher Gers. They arrived at my location one after another within half an hour. After the arrival of all members, the seven of us surrounded the target. The target also noticed us and immediately stopped. Once it stopped, the air around it became still, and it seamlessly blended into the environment. We remained in a standoff, with no sign of movement from it. One of the Flamecallers on our team used the rotary magazine on his arm to launch two Gauss grenades at it.
