DOMINIC'S POV Being with Emma is different than I expected. We don't announce anything to Mrs. Kowalski, but she knows immediately. She finds us having breakfast together—actually together, sitting close instead of across from each other—and just smiles. "Finally," is all she says. The first few days are awkward. We're learning how to be a couple when we skipped all the normal steps. No dating, no getting to know each other gradually. Just a contract and pregnancy and now this. "Do we hold hands?" Emma asks one evening. "I don't know. Do you want to?" "I don't know. Isn't that weird?" "Everything about this is weird." She laughs, and I realize I love that sound. We're on the couch, and she shifts closer. I put my arm around her. She fits against my side perfectly. "This okay?" I
