Dominic's POV We leave on a Thursday morning. The girls are still asleep when the car comes. Emma checks on them twice before we go, standing in the nursery doorway in her coat with her bag already on her shoulder, and I stand behind her and let her take whatever time she needs. "They won't even know we're gone until noon," I say quietly. "I know." "Mrs. Kowalski will call if anything—" "I know." She turns from the doorway. "I'm ready."
