Two families meet

1066 Words
Krys is estranged from her family over a fight that they had years ago. She felt they were addicted to their alcohol and that it came between them. Over 100 bottles of wine had always been displayed at the Daffney household in a place of honor. Many times Krys had been jealous of those bottles knowing that they were very important to her parents. Morri felt sorry for young Krys trying to please parents that were forever disappointed in the daughter they adopted. Krys couldn't drink alcohol with her medicine so she never understood the enjoyment her parents gained from it. Joseph (Krys' brother) understood their parents and tried to help her understand them too. After her uncles death due to alcohol induce lever failure Krys acted out against her parents drinks. She broke into their house when they are away and threw away their hard alcohol and stole all the wine a gave it out to the homeless. Tempers had flared because they had believed a stranger over her. They had trusted the wrong person and accused Krys of doing drugs when it wasn't true. It hurt hurt feelings to be accused falsely when she needed their support. It was wrong to act out in such a manner. Communication had never come easy with her parents. Since then neither one had contacted her for any reason so it wasn't them who told her about her brother's death but the internet. Devastating to her was the loss of her brother but it meant she must contact her parents after all that time. Her caseworker helped her get ahold of her mother. Things started getting better once all the hurt was Communicated by both parties. Peter made Krys proud and she wanted him to know her parents also. Life can be terribly short sometimes so it was a priority that Ema and Diann (her mother) met up. The meet up was on neutral ground so both parties remian on equal ground at Peter's mother's house. Many cats live there at the house and are able to come and go freely. Krys liked that Peter fed as many homeless cats as would come around. His Mother had two older cats Josephina and Carmelita. When Krys' mother wanted to come over to meet the man she loves she would have a place. As the day came Diann arrived at the house and Krys greeted the woman who had adopted her. She introduced Peter and Ema letting them seat her mother on the couch. Krys had told them about her mother not liking cats so what happened next caused laughter. Carmelita decided to sit and stay in Diann's lap and purr in pleasure as Diann petted her. This scene broke the ice and allowed everyone to talk openly and calmly. When it was time for Diann to leave she was pleased with the man who was dating her daughter. Krys hugged Diann and said "I am sorry for everything, I love you!" Diann replied "I love you too." Peter allowed his family to have most of the control over his life. He didn't drive, have a bank account, or even pay any of his own bills. Krys felt he needed confidence and a chance to learn to do things on his own. I had started with his cellphone being changed and added to Krys' bill. The next big step was getting a bank account so he could become his own payee. Independence from his family would allow Peter to start his life with Krys. Peter was able to work with tools fixing things and labor intensive work gave him pride. Noticing his skills when Krys took him to buy her car, he was able to inspect it for problems. Would he become a car mechanic in the future if given the chance? Krys decided they needed privacy and a place they both could live together. Moving out of the place Krys lived got messed up by the landlord. She was denied at the apartment complex they found. This caused them to move into Ema's house until they could make up money to move into an apartment. Ema had also recently fallen and broken her tailbone. Krys had been a caregiver to her grandmother at 19 and believed she could help Ema heal with her gifts of massage therapy. The couple was forced to stay in different rooms to follow Ema's rules. They got anything Ema needed Peter handling anything that wasn't embarrassing for Ema. Krys handled changing clothes in the morning, getting her from her bed to her TV chair, and helping her use the restroom. In the night Krys helped Ema change to sleeping clothes and then put her into bed. Just a few days living there a crying sound was noticed and seemed to be coming from under the house. Three days of what seemed to be a screaming kitten was enough for Krys. She sat infront of a whole underneath the house and pulled out the dirty grey bundle of fur. Cleaning, feeding, and calming revealed a grey and white female 2 week old kitten. They named their first furbaby Samantha and she became just like a daughter to them. Life was going along well and Peter talked of a ring and marriage. He knew what he wanted and was ready to put a ring on it. Not to quote a song...but Krys was really happy to hear that Peter felt that way and looked at rings and wedding dresses. Finally Peter had the ring made in the right size and planned the day he would ask for Krys' hand. Life was going well helping Ema all day and spending some time at night together. Halloween and Thanksgiving were celebrated at the house with Peter's two sisters and Krys had met the other two sisters on the phone. It was alot of women for Krys since all her friends were mostly guys she didn't fit in. Pam the eldest sister did not like me giving Peter back control of his life. She had raised Peter and she demanded respect that Krys didn't feel she had earned. There was alot of power struggle before things were decided and it felt like Pam was the 3rd person in the relationship. When she saw I wanted the best for Peter and I would only improve his life and health.
