CHAPTER TWO

LUCIANO “I told you she was coming to see you.” My raging brother paces in front of my office desk, eyes blazing with anger. I, on the other end, maintaining a cool demeanor while slowly losing patience on the inside, reply, “You didn’t tell me who she was or why she was coming to see me.” The image of Danielle Rossi’s horror ridden face as she entered my office just moment after I shot a stupid fucker dead flashes in my mind. If Nico was not my brother I would have put a gun to his head and eliminated him just for messing with my mood. “What part of ‘an old friend needs our help and you are the best shot at helping’ was not clear enough? Did you even hear her out?” He retorts in anger as he paces the room. “The part where the reason she’s coming to see me is for a stupid marriage I’m not interested in. By the way, I was in the middle of something when she showed up, I was destabilized.” He pauses, eyes narrowed but sill blazing with anger. “In the middle of what, Luciano ? f*****g one of your Putas while yelling out orders or drenching one of your men in his own blood?” “Close enough.” I sneer and he shoots me a disproving glance. “Who told you?” He asks quietly, his temper dropping slowly. “I did my research and reached out to Elio,” I say calmly.”Now,” I lean forward, hands clasped on the table, “could you tell me why neither of you is willing to do the f*****g job and cut me out of your little mess.” Sitting on the chair across from me, he looks me squarely in the face. “Because I am married and Elio is f*****g gay. I got married because of you, remember?” Right. Nico marrying the daughter of Don El-Salvatore, my father’s on-again-off-again ‘frenemy’ was part of my plan to spite him. “It’s a contract marriage. I’m sure one of your partners will understand.” Slamming the table with his hand, he springs to his feet. “No, they won’t! My wife, whom I married legally and in front of prominent friends and family… Elio’s partner is the son of a dangerous gang leader. She’ll be dead before we leave the altar.” “She’ll be dead with me anyway. You know father is not my only enemy.” “No one is coming close to any property of Don Giovanni Morelli, the f*****g capo di tutti capi. And no bloody fucker that cherishes his life will ever come close to the wife of Luciano Morelli who took over from his father overnight and no one knows how it happened. No one but me and Elio. And, in exchange for the favor of helping you ascend to the mighty throne, we ask for a simple favor.” “And if I say no?” He halts abruptly. “I’m afraid that is not an option. If you don’t do it, she’ll be forced to marry some douche from the church for religious continuity or whatever the f**k they say.” My brothers are my strongest ally. They’ve always been. And, they’ve always made sure I don’t get sidelined by our father because of the circumstances of my birth. When I planned to become the Capo and take over from father, they were the ones I shared my plan with. My father is a gambler that knows his onions, and so I put his position at stake. The bet was that if I made alliance with two of the most dangerous Sicilians in New York City, he will step down as the Capo. And, if I don’t, I’ll transfer all my assets to him and become one of his workers. I wasn’t planning to work for him. In fact, I was so sure my brothers would agree that I didn’t doubt the plan. All they had to do was be with these men’s children. Don Salvatore’s beloved daughter was in love with Nico, so I proposed a marriage behind my brother’s back. Don Leo did not like what his son was but he had no choice. The boy’s mother was dead and all the love he had for her was transferred to her fruity son. Imagine his breath of relief when he learnt the handsome Elio of the Morelli family was just like his son. It was love at first sight for the two boys. Well, for Don Leo’s son. Elio didn’t like the idea because he was actually bisexual and loves to f**k p***y hard and like a gentleman. I formed alliances and my father couldn’t believe his eyes. He didn’t think I could do it. It’s been almost a year and my brothers haven’t asked me for a favor in return until now. Sighing, I stroke my chin. “Let me think about it.” I have no intention to marry any time soon. A somewhat arranged marriage can’t change that. And definitely not long black hair, brown doe eyes Danielle f*****g Rossi. I don’t care about her relationship with my brothers either. I barely knew her in the past and I presently don’t want to acknowledge her. My brothers are putting me in a very tight spot. “That is not an option, either. You lost your chance to think about it. You didn’t give me a chance to think about marrying Eliandra, so you don’t get a chance to think about this. I’ll be sending her to the warehouse again tomorrow and you must have the answer she’s looking for. By the way, Elio is cheating on that boy, again. With a clueless college boy. If anything happens to the family, I’ll have you to blame.” While my dear brother storms out of my office, I can’t help but allow a snicker. Nico got my father’s temper and Elio got his philandering nature, and I got his insatiable thirst for blood. As for the rest of his children, well, f**k them. f**k Danielle, too, for trying to cause a rift between myself and my brothers. Speaking of blood thirst, I think I have to pay a visit to Elio’s new toy in college.
